Treer passed away in 1985 and left behind a small collection of vintage prints that were nestled among the hundreds of prints in David Vestal’s Estate. Vestal was her husband, her confidant and her inspiration in taking pictures, and a well known photographer, writer and researcher in his own right. Vestal wrote in Treer’s obituary “I once embarrassed her by saying that she was the only photographer I have ever looked up to. But it’s the truth. When we went shooting together, she kept bringing back pictures that I wished I had taken. I’ve never felt that about anyone else’s work”.

ANIMUS BRONZE BY JAMES JEAN X ALLRIGHTSRESERVED

Posted on 2023-04-10

James Jean explores the depths of the unconscious with the new Animus bronze sculpture in collaboration with AllRightsReserved. The seated monkey has a mirrored face and ears which match the finish on the small box it holds.

As with the psyche, there are multiple levels to Jean’s latest creation. On a functional level, the piece can be used as a stash box accessed by removing the magnetic lid. On a deeper level, the emptiness of the box hints at the difficulty one has in seeing and grasping the unconscious. the monkey’s mask can also be removed to reveal an abstract arrangement of flower petals. The pattern offers an opportunity for reflection of what truly lies within. Fittingly, the mask can be placed inside the box.

An edition of 40, the Animus bronze sculpture (7.87H x 4.72W x 5.12″D) is available for preorder from the DDT Store.

ASTROGIRL BY KIM JUNG GI X COOLABO

Posted on 2023-04-03

The new astroGIRL resin art sculpture is the result of a two-year+ collaboration between the late Kim Jung Gi and COOLABO. The sexy figure is based on Kim’s drawings of a a curvy space explore clad in breathing gear, space boots and not much else.

Created in collaboration with 205 from COOLABO, astroGIRL launches in two colorways – White and Tan. While both figures have tan lines, Tan features a classic bronzed, summer appearance. Tan also embraces her natural beauty and does not have the star-shaped decorations of the White edition. As a fun collaborative element, the spaceship base of each figure features COOLABO’s Skycat in the porthole.

The astroGIRL project marks the extraordinary journey of the talented illustrator who mesmerized audiences with his live drawing sessions. His photographic memory and ability to draw a seemingly endless number of objects without reference earned him a loyal legion of fans.

Editions of 99, the astroGIRL resin art sculpture (1/6 scale) is available in White and Tan editions from COOLABO for the preorder price of $450 each. The sculpture comes in a wood case and includes a poster, pins and stickers.
