AL WOOTTON – RHYTHM ARCHIVES

Posted on 2025-03-31

In January 2025 Al Wootton was invited to Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio in Australia, home to a unique collection of rare vintage drum machines. Al made recordings of multiple drum machines utilising their individual rhythms, characteristics and quirks. These recordings were taken back to the UK and treated with various processes and additions to create Rhythm Archives.

The resulting record is a minimal exploration of rhythm via industrial, dub, post-punk and proto-techno sonics. It is a tribute to these machines and their creators, and resources such as Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio who maintain a huge archive of these and other instruments, prioritising public access and education.

MATT BLACK NEW WORLD ATLAS – CALIFORNIA & NEVADA

Posted on 2025-03-31

New World Atlas is organized in a series of 17 chapters, one for each state lying west of the 100th meridian. This exhibition presents California & Nevada, the first two chapters of this larger body of work. In this series Black departs from conventional photographic representation and incorporates technologies that extend human perception. Thermal imaging makes the invisible visible, allowing viewers to witness heat as a signifier of change, from drought and fire to evaporation. Infrared photography distinguishes the living from the inert, exposing a shifting terrain beneath what once seemed immutable.

KFC X HISMILE

Posted on 2025-03-31

Rowing Blazers has partnered with Bamford London to release a limited-edition timepiece featuring Babar, the iconic character from the French children’s book Histoire de Babar. This collaboration follows their 2023 TAG Heuer x Bamford “Yacht Timer” Carrera venture and represents another creative effort blending storytelling and craftsmanship.

For the first time, Babar appears on a watch, with his arms cleverly doubling as the timepiece’s hands. The playful and detailed design makes this automatic GMT watch a standout piece. The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case, with Babar depicted in his signature green suit and crown against a black backdrop. An internal rotating bezel complements the design with two green shades, echoing the elephant’s iconic attire.

BENJAMIN SABATIER – CONCRETE & COLORS

Posted on 2025-03-31

As a sculptor, Benjamin Sabatier does not deny the performative dimension of his practice. Exploring the relationship between art and labor, between action and object, through the use of raw or fragile materials (concrete, cardboard or brick) and an abstract vocabulary which references Modernity, the artist critiques the productionist logic of our capital-centric world by making the transformative process of matter visible.

STABUDOWN PRODUCTIONS – ANGELIC CAPITULATION

Posted on 2025-03-24

Since his last album for Diagonal in 2019, Jimmy Donadio AKA StabUdown Productions has turned down a spiritual path, debuting his Vedic Dread moniker with Star House while exploring Krishna Consciousness and Dharma Yoga. Tinge of Ascension filters all of these concepts through the dancefloor, traversing lush dubby dimensions and broken beats reconfiguring funky licks. The transcendent synth fluctuation of ‘Cursive Transport’ turn into a downtempo, mildly acidic club meditation, slowly bubbling up the tracklist to twitchy pulsating concoctions, before the massive closer ‘Fully Ascended’ swims through states of being sonified by sparks and flurries of ambience and knocking beats.
