HANNAH LEVY – CRUTCH

Posted on 2023-04-17

Hannah Levy presents Crutch, an exhibition of new wall-based and freestanding sculptures that exist as extensions of the body. Absorbed in the material encounter of two seemingly opposing mediums, Levy introduces glass into her practice. A mix of traditional and experimental processes are used to alter, slump, swell and sag the glass as it submits to its metal opponent. Concentrating her source material, which spans vegetables, medical equipment, prosthetics, and furniture, on forms that implicate mobility aids, Levy considers our physical and psychological relationships to our built environment.
The works function like prophecies: they are symbols of the shared anxieties of our bodily condition, acknowledging the universal yet unspoken truth that we are fallible and impermanent.

ROB PRUITT – B&W NARCISSUS

Posted on 2023-04-17

The exhibition begins with Food Sloshing in Baby’s Mouth / Sunlight Through Window (2022), where a baby is being fed breakfast as rays of sunshine beam through the window and onto the scene. A myriad of sensory experiences are highlighted: the warmth of the morning sun, the food and flavours being energetically consumed, the hands of the mother or caretaker as they gently yet firmly support the rapidly growing body. This illustrates the beginning, where an equation begins to be assembled–what it means to be alive. In attending to what Josephs considers the ‘dream of reality’, our experience of the world becomes a dream and a seductive illusion. Therein, the human subject experiences something akin to an education on how our modes of interpretation can materialise within this new sphere of consciousness.

Exhibition runs through to April 29th, 2023

JUNK HEAD

Posted on 2023-04-17

In the distant future, mankind has lost its ability to procreate, a human-created species has revolted and developed a separate society underground. When a virus wreaks havoc on the surface, an expedition is launched to study how this newly developed species procreate, in an ultimate but desperate attempt to save humankind.

Over seven years in the making, Junk Head is the work of one obsessively dedicated man, Takahide Hori, who has singularly created the sets, puppets, sound, music and special effects and then animated everything to bring this masterpiece to the big screen.

PAUL COUSINS – BROKEN PATCHES OF SKY

Posted on 2023-04-17

This debut album is the work of London based producer, sound artist and composer, Paul Cousins. Paul works with meticulously maintained reel to reel tape machines to transform and alter his electronic compositions. His prepared tape loops form the basis of ‘Vanishing Artefacts’ 12 intricate compositions. The original ideas processed through 1/4” tape become a hazy facsimile of their former state as tape is manipulated and effected to mould something new.

LIGHT CULT CRYPTO BULB STAR SKULL BY RON ENGLISH X CLUTTER

Posted on 2023-04-17

Ron English marks his fourth Light Cult Crypto Bulb drop with a brand-new sculpt. The Star Skull Light Cult Crypto Bulb resin art toy debuts in a Green & Yellow GID edition form Clutter. The new edition brings the trippy, angular contours + large star-shaped eyes of English’s popular psychedelic skull to his curious 6″ light bulb design. This showy star lives up to its name by producing a strong green glow with the lights off. The overall bulb design/concept is drawn from English’s Light Cult Crypto Club NFT project.

An edition of 50, the Light Cult Crypto Bulb Star Skull (Green & Yellow GID) is available from Clutter for $400 and will ship by June 20th, 2023. The sculpture comes with acrylic display stand, wood box, and a COA signed by the artist.

DJ TRYSTERO – CASTILLO

Tokyo-based producer (and City-2 St. Giga boss) DJ Trystero makes his debut on Anthony Naples’ Incienso label with his debut LP Castillo. Experimental in sound design and production, Trystero explores ambient, rave, electro, techno, and house across Castillo, but comes at these big genres at weird angles, exposing some of the latent absurdity in such technically precise spheres of electronic music to the right ears. Early single ‘Oriel’ feels like a skeleton key of sorts: a groovy slice of house that seems to gradually spin off axis as its unrelenting kicks pound on.
