SIMON HANTAÏ – THE LAST STUDIO

The exhibition, curated by Anne Baldassari, features sixteen of Simon Hantaï’s dernier atelier (the last studio) paintings of 1982–85, which are distinguished by vibrantly colored abstract forms derived from a combination of folding and dripping techniques. Examples from the body of work were first shown in Hantaï’s 2022 retrospective curated by Baldassari at Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris, which incorporated a spectacular evocation of the artist’s studio of the era.

ARGHAVAN KHOSRAVI – THE SHAPE OF ABSENCE

Khosravi’s work often departs from lived, cultural, and historical experience, yet it extends beyond a specific geography or moment. Through painting and sculpture, she constructs worlds in which questions of power, agency, visibility, and control unfold through symbolic language. Fragments of bodies, architectural spaces, veils, cages, hands, shadows, and openings frequently reappear in her work. Together, they form visual metaphors that remain open to interpretation rather than declarative.

Above all, Khosravi’s works are poetic. They can be read as visual poems: meticulously composed, rhythmic, and layered with meaning. They draw the audience into spaces that feel intimate yet theatrical. Their intensity lies in restraint, in what is withheld, obscured, interrupted, or partially revealed.

GIACOMO SANTIAGO ROGADO – CONTINUO

With continuo, Giacomo Santiago Rogado presents works from the series Intuition, Coalescence, Accord and Calibra. The exhibition title refers to the idea of a continuum: a state of ongoingness in which the world appears not as an accumulation of separate entities, but as a network of relationships, transitions and reciprocal influences. This notion forms the exhibition’s point of departure, posing the question of how painting might render visible those connections that elude immediate definition.
The bringing together of different bodies of work offers an insight into the complexity and breadth of Rogado’s artistic practice. Although the works originate from distinct series, they enter into a shared dialogue within the exhibition. In doing so, they reveal not only the specific characteristics of each body of work, but also the underlying concerns that have shaped Rogado’s oeuvre for many years. The exhibition focuses on what emerges between the paintings: relationships, recurrences and shifts that are not immediately apparent, but gradually unfold over the course of sustained viewing.
