Thorne-Thomsen is known for staging scenes in landscapes, then photographing them again to create images that feel at once precise and unsettled. She often worked with pinhole apertures and handmade setups, building compositions in which foreground and background merge and ordinary space takes on an unfamiliar logic. The results are carefully made but never straightforward. Stones, water, fragments of architecture and human figures appear in settings that feel both real and invented.

The exhibition includes works from Expeditions, a series shaped by the visual language of early archaeological photography, and from Views from the Shoreline, where echoes of Renaissance portraiture are filtered through a surreal, compressed space. Other series, including Songs of the Sea and Proverbs, show her continued interest in myth, narrative suggestion and symbolic form. Across the work, the atmosphere remains controlled but dreamlike, with each image carrying a sense of quiet tension.

CYST IGLOOGHOST DAISY* – ᲘᲘ

Cyst is a new outfit from UK-born artists Iglooghost & daisy* (fka BABii.) As long-term collaborators, Cyst is the pair’s highly rumoured duo project.

Aside from a handful of elusive live sets over the past year, the only true glimpse of Cyst had been a cryptic feature on ‘Spawn01’ – a sleazy, hypnotic cut from Iglooghost’s ‘Tidal Memory Exo.’

After a long wait, the duo finally announces their first record ‘ᲘᲘ’ (pronounced ‘Rabbit’) on LUCKYME®. Despite being known for their usual subversive, hyper-kinetic electronic music – ‘ᲘᲘ’ sees the two artists occupying a sneaky, mischievous crevice of outsider hip-hop music.

CATHERINE MURPHY – RECENT WORK

Although Murphy’s meticulous commitment to realism once situated her within the tradition of still life, over the past two decades her practice has shifted from direct observation towards more psychologically charged and subtly surreal interpretations of the objects that populate her surroundings. Focusing on overlooked and unexpected viewpoints, Murphy reframes and resizes the familiar. Idiosyncratic glimpses of objects are reproduced to unsettling effect, their character transformed through a careful choreographing of scenes and use of partial, cropped compositions, and heightened colour.

THE LINDA MCCARTNEY RETROSPECTIVE – FROM THE LIGHT

Born Linda Louise Eastman in Scarsdale, New York, McCartney studied art history and took some photography classes before shaping her own approach behind the camera. She began in the magazine world, worked at Town & Country, and then moved into music photography, where her pictures of the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin and the Beatles brought her wider recognition. Her photograph of Mick Jagger on the Hudson helped establish her as a serious photographer, and her Eric Clapton cover image for Rolling Stone made her the first woman to appear on that magazine’s cover with a photograph.

The exhibition also shows the private side of her work. McCartney photographed Paul McCartney, their children and the places they traveled, often turning family life into a visual diary. Music remained central to her life as well, from her marriage to Paul in 1969 to her years performing with Wings and her own musical contribution to “Seaside Woman,” released under the name Suzy and the Red Stripes. The pictures in the show reflect that mix of public and private identity.

BEV GRANT – PHOTOGRAPHS FROM CUBA, 1969

The photographs record a country in motion and a political project under construction. Grant’s lens follows Fidel Castro at Revolution Square, schools created to expand literacy in rural communities, the Moncada Barracks, and farms across the countryside. Taken in 1969, these images now carry a sharper historical edge, reflecting a moment when Cuba’s revolution remained central to international debate and when the island’s social programs were closely watched by visitors from abroad.

Grant’s approach was never detached. Her work emerged from participation, not observation at a distance, and that is visible here in the directness of the pictures. The photographs register public ceremony, education, labor and landscape without flattening them into propaganda. They stand as records of lived political commitment, shaped by a photographer who moved through the 1960s as an activist, feminist and member of Newsreel, while also working alongside the Black Panther Party, the Young Lords and women’s liberation groups.
