PAUL SMITH DESIGNS THREE TOUR DE FRANCE POSTERS

Posted on 2014-07-07

By special invitation from the British Government, Paul Smith has designed three posters to mark the cultural importance of the Tour de France and its arrival in the UK.
With the design taking inspiration from the three UK stages of the tour, the posters celebrate the momentous occasion.

One reflects Saturday 5th July, the first day of the Tour and when the athletes will cycle 190km from Leeds to Harrogate through the Yorkshire Dales. The second, in green, is Sunday 6th July when they’ll cut a dash over the Peak District from York to Sheffield. The third, bright blue poster accompanies the final stage in the Tour’s visit to the UK, on Monday 7th July, when the peloton will race 155km from Cambridge to London ending on The Mall. After which the Tour will continue in France.

Famously a fan of cycling and, of course, the Tour de France, Paul was delighted to participate in celebrating, explaining “The Tour de France doesn’t come to the UK too often so when I was asked by the Secretary Of State for Culture to contribute to the build-up to this great sporting spectacle I was delighted.”

The posters are free to download here.

ADIDAS CONSORTIUM X FOOTPATROL EDBERG ’86

Posted on 2014-07-01

The signature shoe of one the era’s most seminal players, the Stefan Edberg model was first released in 1986 and made regular appearances on the Serve & Volley legend, soon becoming an essential tennis model both on and off courts.

The Edberg ’86 “Strawberries & Cream” takes inspiration from the Wimbledon Tournament’s traditional dessert, sporting a premium suede construction in strawberry red across the upper, sitting on a complimentary cream outsole. Luxsourious cream two-tone three-stripes on the lateral side, flipped with premium red lether strawberry skin stripes on the medial side. The shoe is then finished off with a comfy terry cloth linging and embossed joint-branding on the heels. A fitting tribute to the essence of Wimbledon, the Edberg ’86 “Strawberries & Cream” brings a tennis classic back from the archive in perfect form for Summer.
