LENI RIEFENSTAHL – OLYMPIA 1936

Posted on 2025-07-21

Olympia Through the Lens, is an exhibition featuring 25 original vintage exhibition quality prints by Leni Riefenstahl (1902-2003) from the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. Known for her groundbreaking documentary two-part Olympia (released in 1938), Riefenstahl also produced a striking body of still photography during the Games. Her images captured athletes in motion and repose, employing innovative techniques that helped define modern sports photography.

This exhibition explores Riefenstahl’s visual legacy within the full historical and ethical context of the era. While her mastery of light, form, and composition is undisputed, her work remains controversial due to her ties to the Nazi regime and the propagandistic role her imagery played.

Opposite – Final Festival (Finale) 1936

Exhibition runs through to July 31st, 2025
