TORTOISE – RATED OG
2025-11-10It’s been over thirty years of Tortoise and the Chicagoans are still rewriting exactly what it is that a rock band can do. They’ve been called “post-everything” for decades now and Touch is their first album in just about as much time (since 2016!), living up to the label not only in the sense of arriving after their historied legacy, but leaving it all behind too. From crunchy robust riffs to pipe organ chords shifting with motivating technoid beats to huge and hypnotic commanding twangs, the fragmented elemental melodics of ‘Oganesson’ and the squeaky unspooling tape scribbles of ‘Works And Days’ somehow adding to its comfiness, Tortoise scatters details to all directions of the winds.
