JOSHUA VIDES X THE HUNDREDS

Posted on 2021-07-19

Joshua Vides is notorious for his signature black and white design language as it’s been seen in various forms from an installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago to his own collection with Fendi and more. And for this team-up he takes many of his favorite The Hundreds pieces and reworks them through his lens. The iconic Paisley print is reimagined in bigger fashion on pullover hoodies and tees and he styles the iconic Adam Bomb with a grayscale look. Other notable pieces include that of the paint splattered trousers that come in white/black and black/white colorways, as well as the skate deck that features a co-branded hit on top and a black and white Adam Bomb on the bottom.

Comprising a suite of classic footwear silhouettes alongside a number of carefully considered apparel pieces and accessories, the quintessentially composed collection borrows references from the 1970s through to the early 90s and uses a distinctly 1980s colour palette mixed with the neons of coastal surfing aesthetics.

BOTTEGA VENETA FLASH BOOT

Posted on 2021-07-05

These core house colorways combine with traditional Chelsea boot design cues, yet come together on a subverted take that’s quintessential of Daniel Lee‘s expressive and progressive design language. This is the same approach that has made his Puddle boots, Lean boots, Bounce boots and more becoming instant successes and footwear must-haves, and we don’t see why the Flash can’t have the same effect.

Using 100-percent lambskin, Bottega Veneta crafts a rather subtle shape that’s elegant and traditional. Working your way towards the mid-panel, you find the classic Chelsea boot segment but it now appears in a sporty mesh fabric, and from here, we notice the pull tab and an architectural sole unit.
