ACNE FURNITURE
ACNE’s Jonny Johanssen presents the new collection of furniture in the latest addition to the sick Acne line. In Mr. Johanssen’s own words, ”The Nya Berlin was an archetypical piece of Malmsten design and was created for use in the Swedish consulate in Berlin. It has not been in production since 1949, so it was really inspiring to work with.
With this sofa as a reference, I started to look at how we worked architecturally, instead of just treating say the upholstery. I decided as an alternative to objectify its form from a perspective play. As we do with fashion we played with proportion, lineage and structure – stretching, squashing and pulling the simplistic shape to create new sculptural forms.

AIN'T NOTHIN LIKE THE REAL THING
"Ain't nothin' like the real thing" In this film — Weber's exploration of nudity — there's nothing "semi" about it. It opens with a clothed Simon Nessman singing to a puppy dangling out of a jacket pocket. Then he and his friends start taking their shirts off (in slow motion). Then they take all their clothes off and jump into a swimming hole in the wilderness. Weber splices in some vintage shots of nude women, too.

ROD LAVER SERIES
The signature shoe of several time world tennis champion, and still legendary George ‘Rod’ Laver, the adidas Rod Laver has been a mainstay for the brand, and now a central part of the Originals range since its 1970 launch. The key to its success? Utter simplicity. In line with court decorum and regulations of the era, the famous 3-Stripes were shorn for this shoe, and the purity of the Rod Laver set something of a standard for sneaker design – the move to pare down the corporate identity and let the silhouette do the talking is a landmark move too. Almost forty years after the original design’s introduction, it’s back in a tweaked form, retaining its iconic classicism for an ambitious adidas Originals Consortium project.
Nine global Consortium partners, each famed for their innovative approach to retail, were given the Rod Laver to rework with their choice of colours, fabrics and more for release in extremely limited numbers at Consortium stores throughout autumn 2009.

CAMPER TOGETHER WITH BERNHARD WILLHELM
The new To & Ether collection from Camper, points directly at the avant-garde of alternative fashion. Willhelm has designed shoe collections for both men and women. Moccasins and sandals fabricated with handcrafted techniques and recycled materials, hand sewn, coloured felts with rubber soles. The innovation is also illustrated simply, with actual traits of common sense. “I wanted to apply ethical and ecological criteria in the making of this shoe collection. I would like people to keep these criteria in mind when they are choosing a shoe”. Willhelm’s designs are added to those that Jaime Hayon, Alfredo Häberli and Maria Blaisse have developed “together” within Camper’s new creative adventure.

Representing for Toronto, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, London, Stockholm, Shanghai and Tokyo, this collection’s scope is truly global. Patta, Alife, Limited Editions and Sneakers’n’stuff make up the first group, Goodfoot, Undefeated, DQM and Huf make up the second, with the trio completed by the formation of ACU, D-Mop, Crooked Tongues and VA.
The first wave of 3-Way Consortium releases from adidas Originals unites three of Europe’s leading sneaker boutiques - Patta, Sneakersnstuff and LimitEditions, representing Amsterdam, Stockholm and Barcelona respectively, with New York’s A.R.C. Opting to rework a shoe each in their own unique style, all four join forces for a fifth shoe that reflects the best of all involved. An eclectic collection, somehow it proves totally cohesive as a whole, reflecting the individual visions of all concerned.

"BLOW"
Talking of the sunshine...Every season there is one stand-out model of crazy sunglasses that make the rounds. Jeremy Scott is usually good for a surprise on that end, but was reasonably subtle this season. Instead its left to Dior Homme to present the “Blow” sunglasses.
They come in 5 colorways, with each colorway ultra limited to only 500 pieces worldwide.

ORIGINALS BY ORIGINALS - ALAYASHA
Now available the latest Originals by Originals collection from adidas by Alyasha Owerka-Moore of Fiberops, inspired by Americana and vintage culture. “Alyasha celebrates the special twist on Americana with an Originals flavor that comes across classic looks. Heavy cotton and genuine materials play a big role together with vintage details and remarkable graphics.
Footwear highlight Jivebomber represents a combination of an Oxford-style silhouette and sneaker outsole. “I hope that my contribution does justice to the Originals by Originals project as a whole. The inspiration came from classic 1940’s and 50’s styles, with what I hope will be recognized as a somewhat contemporary twist. Easy to wear for the discerning cad.” In the end, it is the sum of the various designer contributions that defines Originals by Originals and makes it exceptional.” The collection consists of jackets, tops, as well as some very interesting footwear.

ORIGINALS BY ORIGINALS - KAZUKI
Now available the capsule collection from Kazuki of Fragment Design as part of the Originals by Originals releases for 2009. Completely different from both the Alyasha and the Jeremy Scott collections, the Japanese designer concentrated on adding technical features and materials to the apparel and the footwear, which overall keeps a very subtle and understated look. Exactly what we would have expected from this Jedi Master. Kazuki successfully brings highly technical and modern influences to a stylized, very wearable streetwear collection. The styles incorporate elements such as waterproof zippers, bonding and taping seamlessly into the design.
Footwear highlights call out the KBall Basketball silhouettes that come in exclusive materials. “The styling of my collection suits me and hopefully the audience that my designs appeal to. I would really like to thank all my friends for their support and inspiration but most importantly I would like to thank adidas for having the vision to give me, a freelance designer, a chance to work on a project like this,” Kazuki comments on the new partnership.”

MULBERRY ELIOT HOLDALL
Recently we've seen a growing amount of faux leather holdalls making their way onto the high-end market. It’s not a movement we endorse, as faux leather looks and feels terrible in comparison to the real thing. These Mulberry holdalls use heavy grain leather which beautifully ages with wear, leaving a bag that looks better the more you use it. It’s also the perfect size for airport hand luggage restrictions and thus makes a chic and stylish travel bag.

PAUL SMITH MILLER BROGUE
We're very big fans of Paul Smith at Exit and we love these trademark Miller brogues that have been available in various hues for several seasons now and Smith’s SS09 collection looks to carry on the tradition. Miller is Paul Smith Mainline leather gentlemen’s brogue with sky blue dip dyed washed uppers. They are crafted on a classic Oxford brogue pattern, on a slim fashion last. The soles are trimmed right to the edge of the upper to give a more casual look.
Part of the Dip-Dye range, the uppers of these shoes have been immersed in dyes and tumbled in large wooden drums to dye the upper leather, the lining and the stitching for intense colour. These brogues feature fabric window inserts on the inside lining and painted check insoles. The soles themselves are made with Blake Rapid construction and the bases have been hand painted and hammered.

It is a very sturdy expandable construction with three interior compartments and a middle compartment that is ideal for laptop storage making it perfect for my daily commute into the Exit office.
