TITUS KAPHAR – EXHIBITING FORGIVENESS

Posted on 2024-09-30

The semi-autobiographical Exhibiting Forgiveness stars André Holland as Tarrell Rodin, an accomplished painter whose life is upended by an unexpected reunion with his father, La’Ron (John Earl Jelks), a recovering addict who hopes to rebuild a relationship with his estranged son. Tarrell, now an active and loving father and husband, is skeptical despite the encouragement of his mother. Written and directed by Kaphar, Exhibiting Forgiveness follows his documentary shorts Shut Up and Paint (2022, shortlisted in the Documentary Short Film category of the 95th Academy Awards) and The Jerome Project (2016)—the latter of which was inspired by a painting series initiated in 2014 exploring the artist’s relationship with his own estranged father. Exhibiting Forgiveness is a direct, though fictionalized, extension of The Jerome Project.

PLACES+FACES X REEBOK

Posted on 2024-09-30

The new collection from the pair looks to combine Reebok’s sports-focused aesthetic with P+F’s close ear to the streets. As a whole, the capsule encapsulates the essence of movement; from “fleeting moments caught on camera” to traveling to places that “leave a mark on us.” With this in mind, the new sneaker from Reebok and P+F has been designed with reflective elements, inspired by city lights and camera flashes, while vintage-inspired touches are included to reference Reebok’s design approach.

Coming in two colorways of grey and black, both designs are hit with a slew of co-branding on the lateral sides, tongue, and heel counter, while the outsole is designed with a durable rubber, providing comfortability for those on the move.

UNFEIGNED FALL/WINTER 2024

Posted on 2024-09-30

The use of technical fabric in its garments is at the core of Unfeigned’s latest collection, with a new water-repellent Puffed Jacket and vest, Technical Sweatshirt and Oversized Jacket, as well as the new Tech Parka and Oversized Work Jacket all being highlights of the new capsule.

These pieces sit alongside the all-new Smart Jacket, Smart Pant, and the Technical Blazer. “The interest in using the technical fabric came from my interest in sports and the outdoors initially,” says Unfeigned founder Rafa Gomez. “The tech fabric pieces form the core part of our collection and we build around them. The beauty lies in the finer detailing and the fact that they are easy to wear for a multitude of occasions for work or socializing. Wearers can mix and match too, but perhaps the biggest draw is the fact that they are easy to pack and travel with for those on the move.”

ADIDAS SPZL X GOLDIE

Posted on 2024-09-28

Goldie has been a supporter of adidas SPZL from the very beginning and fronted the autumn/winter 2017 collection shot by Nick Knight. He and adidas SPZL founder Gary Aspden are long time collaborators and have been close friends for many years.

The silhouette itself takes the iconic Silverbirch SPZL as its foundation, updating the timeless look through a number of details that pay homage to Goldie’s inimitable legacy. First, the tonal white upper is adorned in faux-stingray leather overlays (a subtle nod to his B-Boy roots and transatlantic influences) with mesh and nylon underlays. The gold of the stripes and heel is then juxtaposed against a pink pop of colour on the dual branded tongue label. There is a laser cut SPZL ‘Mod Trefoil’ on one shoe with a laser cut Metalheadz logo appearing on the other foot as a further nod to the artist’s trailblazing label. Each pair is finished with Goldie and Spezial Box Logo lace jewels. Rounding out the collaborative silhouette are special edition footbeds which feature a new original Goldie artwork inspired by a pink that he used consistently since his early days as a graffiti writer.
