EARTHLY DELIGHTS

Posted on 2024-09-30

Koslov Larsen is pleased to present a group show for the commencement of the fall art gallery season. Earthly Delights walks us down a path of fantasy and fiction, through the winding walkways of the mind and out into the sun of a world crafted by imagination. This exhibition largely centers on the Fantastical Feasts by Claire Rosen, a series of whimsical panoramic photographs depicting animals reveling around elaborate banquet tables, visually inspired by the Dutch Masters and Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.

Also included in Earthly Delights is the work of Amanda Marchand, Torrie Groening, Margeaux Walter, and Kelda Van Patten.

Exhibition runs through to November 9th, 2024

MONA KUHN – THE SCHINDLER HOUSE, A LOVE AFFAIR

Posted on 2024-09-30

The enigmatic subject of Kuhn’s series is an imagined, ethereal figure inspired by a letter from the famed architect R.M. Schindler to a mysterious lover. Shot in the 1920s modernist house designed and built by Schindler on Kings Road in West Hollywood, each portrait is solarized, a technique favored by master surrealists in the 1920s, including Lee Miller and Man Ray. The resulting impressionistic images question the very nature of lyrical fiction and photography as a record, capturing the physical presence of this mysterious woman even as it appears to dematerialize

Exhibition runs through to October 12th, 2024

TORBJØRN RØDLAND – “NOW IT SOBS, NOW IT SINGS”

Posted on 2024-09-30

Why are you reading this? What is it that makes these photographs in need of words, or what burdens the taking of photographs with the responsibility to tell? What has us looking for an explanation elsewhere rather than be looking at the photograph again? What is it that it invites? What is seen, what is sensed, what is ever so slightly shifted when returning to these familiar forms; the baby portrait, the couple’s embrace, or the accident that had the ball flying over the fence and cracking the windshield?

What were the chances? What did the insurance claim report read? Where do we take it from here (now that the car is unfit for the road)? How do we get unstuck? How do we infuse these known objects, faces and bodies with something unknown? How do we instil the still life with a liveliness? How do we erode the expectations of the portrait genre when arranging yet another headshot? How can we alter what matters? How can we allow for magic to occur from matters of facts?

New York workwear brand Randy’s Garments has returned with its Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Last season, the label debuted a rust-red capsule of workwear staples constructed out of selvedge denim.

For the cooler months, designer Brandon Portelli continued to prioritize thick, high-quality fabrics while using layering to add dimension. A lookbook was shot around distinct New York locations, from Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal to Flushing’s Citi Field stadium.
