VANS X FROG SKATEBOARDS

Posted on 2021-01-18

Sharing the same creative spirit with Vans, Frog Skateboards joins forces with the original action sports footwear and apparel brand on a first-of-its-kind collection that includes both men’s and women’s pieces. The offering is led by the Skate Old Skool, which is marked by a silicone charm Sidestripe that pops against an otherwise all-black upper. Playful elements emerge across the offering, including a multi-colored charm Checkerboard pattern and complementary foxing stripe on the Classic Slip-on.

For men’s apparel, the charm Checkerboard inspiration carries over into a classic short sleeve woven shirt. Frog extends its fun-loving aesthetic to the Versa Standard PO, a black water-resistant hoodie with a Frog Skateboards line drawing on the front, and colorful charms on the back. A white long sleeve tee features a Frog skateboards doodle graphic.

Leading the pack for women’s apparel is a heavy cotton jersey baby tee with colorful all-over Checkerboard print, a contrast neck, and logo screen print at the chest. A twill baseball cap tops it off with contrast stitching, an embroidered Vans logo on the front, and novelty frog and heart silicone patches that tie back to the Skate Old Skool.

The Vans x Frog collection will be available in limited quantity on February 18, 2021, at select skate retailers and online.

PSYCHO GOREMAN

Posted on 2021-01-11

Siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord who was entombed on Earth millions of years ago after a failed attempt to destroy the universe. They nickname the evil creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short) and use the magical amulet they discovered to force him to obey their childish whims. It isn’t long before PG’s reappearance draws the attention of intergalactic friends and foes from across the cosmos and a rogues’ gallery of alien combatants converges in small-town suburbia to battle for the fate of the galaxy.

NUDGE IT – SLEAFORD MODS FT. AMY TAYLOR

Posted on 2021-01-11

From the album ‘Spare Ribs’, out 15 January 2021 on Rough Trade Records.

Imagine you’ve got limited options, unsure how you’re getting by that week, looking out the window of the damp flat you don’t want to live in, and seeing a bunch of posers having a photo shoot because ‘cool architecture bro, we feel your pain’.

Reduced circumstance isn’t a pantomime. If you haven’t lived within its confines don’t use it to enamour your ideas. It confuses the platform for those that truly live it and more often than not buries creative breakthroughs because the arena is polluted by the view of their world through someone else’s privileged lense.

So beware the eager networkers, don’t settle for the 20p payout, nudge it, pop the posers. And don’t apologise for the fucker either.

BIG LOVE RECORDS HAND SOAPS

Posted on 2021-01-11

Big Love Records, Haruka Hirata’s record store in Tokyo’s Harajuku, has recently dropped a set of hand soaps colored in jet black.

The soap’s label features a bold monochromatic design done by James Rockin of Los Angeles art collective WSSF. “BIG LOVE” is emblazoned at the top label in a sleek Olde English font, below which the word “RECORDS” is displayed vertically inside a set of geometric graphics. Made up of 100 percent natural ingredients, the soap contains a mix of coconut oil and bamboo charcoal that give off the scent of vetiver and patchouli. “HARAJUKU TOKYO” is printed at the bottom of the soap’s label to complete the bottle design.
