BARBOUR INTERNATIONAL X SATURDAYS NYC

Posted on 2020-08-24

Barbour teams up with Saturdays NYC through its Barbour International line. The resulting capsule mixes surf and city culture with Barbour International’s motorcycling heritage. As well as classic outerwear, archival wax and quilted jackets — the collection also features sweatshirts, knitwear, T-shirts and accessories.

The stand-out items are the outerwear, with a reworking of Barbour International’s A7 jacket mixing its motorcycle history with new elements including cord overlays, buckle fastenings and a detachable teddy fleece lining. Elsewhere, the collaborative Winter Quilt jacket features a waist belt as a nod to motorcycling as well as similar cord overlays as the A7.

GABRIELĖ ADOMAITYTĖ – TRAVERSING DISCRETE LOCI

Posted on 2020-08-24

Traversing Discrete Loci, refers to the method of loci, an ancient Greek memory enhancement technique which uses imaginary locations for storing information through mental image-making (loci being Latin for “places”). Gabrielė Adomaitytė has been working with the story of an archivist in Lithuania, who has turned his house into a museum called The Clothes Archive. The museum is essentially a shrine to the Soviet era. Adomaitytė projects this retro-utopian world into the series of paintings presented in The Bakery. The multiplicity of layers alludes to the lack of a singular narrative; instead the narratives come together in a memory palace suspended in time through collage and drawing.

HERESY S/S 2020

Posted on 2020-08-24

British label Heresy has followed up its folklore-inspired Spring/Summer 2020 collection its new “Chaos and the Ballad of the Black Dog” range. The Fall/Winter 2020 collection looks at themes that have ran throughout the brand’s previous work, with a particular focus on Chaos Magick, the Occult and Wicca.

Described as “Britain’s only native religion,” Wicca is a form of modern Paganism that was introduced in the 1950s. The religion ties in to Heresy’s ongoing look at folklore and the occult, and has a particular focus on nature with a range of symbols and motifs.
