DONA FT. ALOTH – MINDSCAPES

Posted on 2020-08-24

Dona Aka Dj Plant Texture’s debut on Mannequin is the result of an effective true love for the early Chicago Acid and Jackbeat, mixed with textures of EBM and Cold Wave. “Mindscapes”, featuring the haunted vocals of Aloth, represents a trip into states of consciousness and psychiatric diseases. Ispired by some reports describing America’s Mental health System during the latest 70’s, the EP is a blend of analog machines, forced to create the perfect jam session.

Limited edition of 300 copies on 140gr black vinyl.

First 50 copies comes with a handnumbered alternative blue art cover available only at Mannequin Records bandcamp.

CHLOË LAMB – NEW SEPTEMBER

Posted on 2020-08-24

The exhibition will feature a selection of abstract oil paintings as well as several wood constructions, marking the first time the artist’s sculptural works will be shown in the U.S. Lamb is inspired by nature and found everyday objects, embracing the beauty and emotive qualities of surrounding landscapes and also the grace and texture of common materials like scraps of wood. The ongoing pandemic has only heightened Lamb’s attraction to these elements, as the world has slowed and the desire for simple pleasures has intensified. The exhibition will include a number of works Lamb created during the COVID-19 related shutdown in the U.K.

TUCK FAUNTLEROY – ELEMENTS

Posted on 2020-08-24

Photographer Tuck Fauntleroy captures the change of season in minimal and abstracted aerial photographs of rivers as they emerge from snow. Fauntleroy’s simple black and white rivers extend beyond the photographic frame leaving the viewer with a sense of continuation. The series Waterline is the culmination of ten years of mapping, flying, and exploring the ever-changing paths of isolated rivers throughout the west at the cusp of spring. Fauntleroy’s work is grounded in a sense of water, movement, positive and negative space, and impeccable timing. Noting the transitional progressions in remote locations, Fauntleroy expresses a deeply human desire to capture and chase the ephemerality of seasons and time.

ROBERT DEL NAJA PROTECTION PRINT

Posted on 2020-08-24

British artist and Massive Attack frontman, Robert “3D” Del Naja recently unveiled a new print edition called PROTECTION. The two-color, figurative artwork portrays a grainy human-like subject covered with bold visuals of blue hands and the words “protection” and “Bristol” beneath it. The blue color was inspired by the National Health Service’s official logo. All proceeds from the sale of the prints will go directly to the Bristol Food Union that is providing support to restaurants, local farmers, and producers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

STIPAN TADIĆ – CITY LIGHTS

Posted on 2020-08-24

Over the last several months, Tadić has explored the city at night, observing, drawing and writing down his observations. He found Chinatown to be of special interest. Even though it is an enduring symbol of the city, more of its essence was revealed in the absence of crowds. While the works were intended to document an historic moment in the city, they also came to serve as a psychological diary for the Croatian-born Tadić, who observed a new form of dystopia in New York’s empty streets. Colorful neon signs were flashing but no one was there to see them.
