ABSOLUT – #ELECTRIKLONDON

On 19 November 2015 Absolut hosts #ElectrikLondon, a hyper sensory, mixed reality exploration into the future of nightlife, curated alongside design studio Marshmallow Laser Feast and independent record label R&S Records. Absolut will take guests on a 360° journey where physical space is transformed using virtual reality to challenge what audiences expect from a night out.

Wrapped in LED projections, the Electrik Room will come to life with tailored DJ sets by Leon Vynehall, Lone, Space Dimension Controller and Moiré. The LED wall projections will be motion reactive – responding to sound and mood over the night. Virtual reality headsets will transport guests into another dimension, transforming perceptions of nightlife, and raising questions of reality in the digital age.

Absolut’s ambassador and mixologist Rico Dynan will create a series of experimental drinks which will act as an introduction to each experience. They include the Coffee Tonik, Absolut Mule and the Electrolyte, created using Absolut, Coconut Water, Lime Juice, pineapple syrup, blue curacao.

#ElectrikLondon is part of a series of Absolut Nights events taking place across the globe and is inspired by the launch of Absolut’s latest limited edition bottle, Absolut Electrik; a twin bottle release available in electrik blue and silver, with semi-transparent coating creating see-through reflections.

SUPERSTAR 80V METROPOLIS

Derived from the natural habitat of the Superstar the monochromatic warm grey of the Metropolis resonates a bare concrete essence, retaining the contemporary aesthetics of its native urban origins. The shoes appearance blends harmoniously with the modern city architecture and could even be taken for camouflage in this environment. Apart from the aesthetic standpoint there is a rather practical element to the color too, as it is naturally more forgiving regarding the dusty side-effects of inner city life.

With the choice of an ultra soft suede leather for the Metropolis’s complete upper, the juxtaposition to concrete couldn’t be more of a contrast. What comes as a surprise on this Superstar is the fact that even the most iconic part of the shoe, the shell toe, is actually executed in this same suede. Apart from the subtle contrast stitching the upper as well as outsole, leather lining, and slim cotton laces are completely uniform in color. Silver foil embossed Consortium signets on both tongues, silver all-over printed insoles and, most recognizably, the individual numbering on both heel tabs appear as the only visual markers for this limited edition highlight.

The adidas Superstar 80v Metropolis is released in an edition of 1000 pairs and will be launched on November 13th at No.42 Paris, No.74 Berlin and selected Consortium retailers.

FLOATING POINTS – ELAENIA

For the past ten years, all roads Floating Points AKA Sam Shepherd has followed have been slowly leading to Elaenia – an album with roots deep in his formative years, and one that draws upon everything Shepherd has done so far. Every DJ set he’s performed, every talent he has produced, every composition he has written are thought of as precursors to Elaenia – a dazzling score which puts Shepherd in the spotlight as a composer who has produced an album that bridges the gap between his rapturous dance music and formative classical roots. Elaenia, was engineered over five year period, all the while deejaying in cities across the globe and working towards his PhD in neuroscience.

IGLOOGHOST – CHINESE NU YR

The next release from Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder imprint will be a 4-track digital EP from British producer Iglooghost titled Chinese Nü Yr on 30th October 2015. At the tender age of 18, he already has a fistful of releases to his name, most notably the collaborative Yoteghost Milk Empire rap album alongside Mr. Yote (released as a giant pink helium balloon with a download code) via Activia Benz; plus contributions to Fly High Society’s Space Bus Vol.1 and The Astral Plane’s Heterotopia series.
