Pharma, the duo of Sam Katz & Milo McBride, are the latest bright lights to emerge from a resurgent NYC jazz scene. Like fellow Five Boroughs crew Onyx Collective the Grand St. EP takes jazz more as a guiding principle than a definitive style, indeed, if you had to pigeonhole the sounds here, you’d say that Pharma operate more in a sort of lo-fi hip-hop/neo-soul space.
