DAILY PAPER FW24

Posted on 2024-09-02

The Amsterdam-based outfitter is extrapolating the aesthetic of the overstimulation we’re all feeling to inform its diverse and dynamic Fall/Winter 2024 collection, aptly entitled “Sensory Overload.”

The seasonal range sees the label continue to evolve its signature silhouettes – especially its denimwear – through the lens of “living in a circular existence,” in which “the boundaries between the physical and digital realms are increasingly blurred.”

BARACUTA X NEIGHBORHOOD

Posted on 2024-09-02

Baracuta and Neighborhood have unveiled first-ever capsule collection, a fusion of British heritage and Japanese streetwear.

The collection, fronted by legendary Metalheadz co-founder Goldie, consists of a range of products and includes the standout Neighborhood x Baracuta G9 Harrington Jacket, made in the UK. Retaining the signature two-buttoned dog ear collar, ribbed cuffs, and waistband, this edition omits the traditional umbrella back yoke, opting instead for an embroidered logo from both brands on the back.

The Neighborhood x Baracuta G4 Jacket is also present, featuring an oversized fit, a unique Dog Ear collar with a double button closure, and personalised Baracuta buttons. The jacket boasts embroidered patches on the chest and sleeves, a nod to Neighborhood’s streetwear roots, and is quilted for ultimate warmth and comfort.

HELEN MARDEN – THE GRIEF PAINTINGS

Posted on 2024-09-02

Begun in 2023 as Marden cared for her husband, Brice, and made over the months following his passing, the Grief Paintings are intimately scaled abstractions created with resin, powdered pigment, ink, and natural objects. Flowing layers of vivid color and assemblages of feathers, shells, and sea glass extend beyond the paintings’ circular supports. Imbued with the spirit of life, love, and creativity, this body of work takes on new meaning in accord with the poem “Growing Up in America” by Rene Ricard, a longtime friend of the couple.

BOGDAN RACZYNSKI – YOU’RE ONLY YOUNG ONCE BUT YOU CAN BE STUPID FOREVER

Posted on 2024-09-02

Following the release of the well received Rave ‘Till You Cry compilation of unreleased versions from the vaults in 2019, Disciples follow it up (a mere 5 years later!) with a new album from Rephlex alumni Bogdan Raczynski, complete with another manifesto style title: You’re Only Young Once But You Can Be Stupid Forever.

A collection of warmly melodic electronic sketches, with tracks alternately drifting beatless on the breeze or underpinned by lo-fi drums, sometimes barely held together with a delicate construction of odd synth patches and ping-pong percussion. Each piece is short and to the point, a record of perfect miniatures. Whilst this description may sound utopian, the album is conceived around themes of late stage capitalist brutality, hyper consumerism, online doom and alogorhithmic apocalypse. Beauty in the face of planetary collapse and 24/7 livestreamed genocide. The theme summed up by the front cover which just features a giant (readable) QR code, that most ubiquitous of modern symbols. We’ve asked Bogdan on several occasions for more background information on the creation of these tracks, but received a different answer each time. One of the below statements might be true, though it’s equally possible that none of them are, just like the… more
