OLOF DREIJER, DIVA CRUZ – BRUJAS EP

Posted on 2024-06-03

The Knife’s Olof Dreijer teams up with Swedish percussionist/DJ Diva Cruz for a new collaborative EP on Dekmantel entitled Brujas. As two longtime social and political activists, Dreijer and Cruz naturally tackle a host of societal ills across Brujas, with Cruz taking the powers to be to task while debuting her voice and lyricism on record for the very first time. Inspired by her Colimbian upbringing, the percussive ‘Black Queen’ in particular confronts the machismo and sexual violence so prevelent in the world of Latin American culture as well as the music and art that reflects it to the rest of the world.

In celebration of this partnership, the Polaroid Now Generation 2 Instant Camera comes in the iconic Eames fiberglass color “Elephant Hide Gray” and includes a bold wrist strap referencing the famous Eames Toy’s geometric pattern. The classic analog instant camera with self-timer and double exposure modes, 2-lens autofocusing system, made with 40% recycled materials, and a whole lot of design history. A collector’s item that’s not to be missed. Rechargeable with USB-C and compatible with Polaroid i-Type & 600 Film in the iconic, full-size Polaroid Instant Film format.

KOKO BY COARSE

Posted on 2024-06-03

Coarse returns to the skies with the effervescent Koko vinyl art toy. Flitting from flower to flower with a frenetic wing beat, Koko evokes freedom through its fancy flight. Featured in several of Coarse’s sprawling, multiple-character sculptures for their recent Because I Wanted You To Know solo show (Corey Helford Gallery), Koko shines with three bright, vivid vinyl editions.

First released as part of Thailand Toy Expo 2024 back in April, Koko features a whimsical design with a long beak, mask-like eye treatment, and eye-catching pose: standing on its forward-swung tail. Long time Coarse collectors will likely think back to Cancan, Coarse’s toucan toy (2015), which also made use of this clever and unusual approach to give a bird with tiny legs a way to stand comfortably.

Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2”

The SS24 capsule also sees HIDDEN.NY tap into crafting white denim as well, presenting a pair of white jeans and white jorts, each rounded out with similar embroidered patching throughout.

Elsewhere, HIDDEN.NY whips up a cream-colored sweatsuit, which consists of a zip-up hoodie and pair of sweatpants – both of which are hit with green New York Yankees logos on the left side. A light green work jacket sees HIDDEN.NY’s insignia blown up on the back with “Past. Present. Future” written underneath. A mahogany-hued jersey rounds out the apparel front, while carry-all bags and baseball hats serve as the accessories.
