TUE GREENFORT – EQUILIBRIUM

Posted on 2022-08-15

The exhibition counters this idea of EQUILIBRIUM with all manner of dynamics. At the entrance, an organic wheat field grows, MONOCULTURE (2022) opening the space and time of the exhibition onto those specific to agriculture. On the adjoining wall are grafted ears of corn and stalks of wheat, CROPS (2022) immortalized as delicate bronze castings, set directly into the Brutalist plaster of the former church. The grains are rare, ancient varieties that come from the Kerkow estate in the Uckermark region of surrounding Brandenburg. Greenfort worked there together with farmers who are committed to the preservation and recultivation of ancient crops.

SIMONE KENNDY DOIG – WAIST DEEP

Posted on 2022-08-08

Kennedy Doig’s working process typically begins with photographs. Using a basic iPhone camera as a pocket notebook, a sketch pad, or a visual diary to document the sights and events of daily life, the artist later returns to these snapshots, breaks them apart, and collages the locations and characters together into timeless memory scenescapes. A long and laborious time is spent on each composition—drawing, etching, and then painting the same subject over and over again to break away from the original source material and disturb the easy accessibility of conventional realism. What results are images that are less direct and more mysterious in ways undeniable yet barely perceptible, gently veering in and out of the surreal in a subtle play of Magic Realism.

Victory Lap, is a online exhibition featuring fifty photographs celebrating the life’s work of legendary sports photographer Walter Iooss Jr. Often cited as the “Rembrandt” of sports photography due to his use of light, color, and composition, Iooss has the innate ability to capture what Henri Cartier-Bresson defined as the “decisive moment.” His images transcend the fame of his subjects, and have come to represent modern sports culture.
