TARA CLERKIN – TRIO NIGHT STEPS

Posted on 2021-10-11

In Spring is the second record by Tara Clerkin Trio, a Bristol-based group who appeared to emerge from below the radar of near-all in early 2020 and in the presence of one of the most captivating records of that year. This latest 23 minute, four song collection, recorded in various stages and locations over the last twelve months, does nothing to detract from those first impressions, refining the woozy and shimmering oddness of their debut into an avant-pop sensibility that is increasingly their own.

ANTENNA – TIMBALES

Posted on 2021-10-11

The 50th release on the Clone Royal Oak Series. A small milestone, and its longtime label friend and collaborator Antenna who has the right tunes for this release!
He delivers a unique blend of house cuts EP that conjures up a very blissed out and heady feel. Digging deep in the roots of electronic dance music the tracks have a classic and familiar feel, reminiscent of the heydays of early 90’s raves and chill outs where the darker and deeper sounds reigned. Antenna puts a fresh spin on those classic themes and firmly sets it in a 21st century place.
Another beautiful release on the Clone sub label celebrating the musical diversity of all offsprings of the Royal Oak of house music.

CLAUDIA ANDUJAR – THE YANOMAMI STRUGGLE

Posted on 2021-10-11

For five decades, photographer Claudia Andujar (b. 1931) has dedicated her life and work to the indigenous Yanomami communities in the Amazon region of Northern Brazil. In the late 1970s, when the community found itself subjected to severe external threats, the Swiss-born photographer, who is based in São Paulo, began fighting for the Yanomami’s rights. She subsequently went on to join the community, thus deepening relations between them.
Her fourteen-year battle alongside Yanomami leader Davi Kopenawa and other concerned parties led to an official demarcation of the community’s land in 1992. Today, Andujar’s activist efforts are as relevant as ever – as is illustrated by current events, such as the ongoing deforestation and environmental destruction caused by mining and ranching, human rights violations in the region or the spread of malaria and COVID-19. The exhibition brings into focus the humanitarian and environmental crises that have been exacerbated by the pandemic.

DANH VO

Posted on 2021-10-11

Danh Vo examines how cultural values, conflicts and traumas are constructed and inherited through work inspired both by his own experiences as well as historical and political events. When he was a child, Vo’s family fled Vietnam and settled in Denmark. His family’s assimilation to European culture and the political events that precipitated their flight from Vietnam are intertwined in his artistic practice; Vo’s work illuminates the interwoven strands of private experience and collective history that shape our sense of self.
