RASMUS MYRUP – FOLX

Bringing together elements from our natural and social histories, Rasmus Myrup’s practice puts forward parallel narratives of what once was and what continues to be. Love, sex, and power are brought into focus, tying together the worlds of flora, fauna and people alike.
Myrup’s installations, sculptures and works on paper reintroduce us to a world which is subversively ours but can be overtly ours if we so choose. This drive to bring other narratives to the forefront is echoed in Myrup’s technical prowess, which utilises both traditional practices and modern techniques to create something which feels uniquely in the here and now.

CARNE BOLLENTE X TOM OF FINLAND

Brooks has partnered with Deschutes Brewery for a hop-filled “Run Hoppy” collection. With a clever play on Brooks’ “Run Happy” tagline, the Pacific Northwest neighbors have crafted a special take on the popular Ghost 14 running shoe plus a set of performance apparel, and Deschutes has even brewed a special beer for the occasion.

Brooks’ Ghost 14 is normally known for its lightweight build and smooth, responsive cushioning, but here what’s even more enthralling than its performance features is how it’s adorned. Its black upper is covered in beer (figuratively, not literally) thanks to an all-over print of full, foamy growlers, mugs and pint glasses. A large golden strike runs through the middle, and white midsoles serve up both cushion and contrast. T-shirts and other apparel add to the beer theme with a custom can graphic that shows spilled beer forming a Brooks logo.

JASON LANGER – FIGURES

In the late nineties and early aughts, artist Jason Langer placed ads on Craigslist for anyone, male or female, willing to allow him to photograph them naked in their personal, intimate spaces as they went about their evening routines. Langer kept his subjects moving naturally, avoiding props, although he would occasionally ask them pause so he could make a photo. He aspired to be a voyeur, surreptitiously witnessing private lives. Although the images were not intended to be erotic, he sometimes would sense erotic energy in the room, as typically the space was occupied only by model, photographer, and camera.
