ROB PRUITT – MASKS

Posted on 2020-12-14

Pruitt’s exhibition centres on a new painting series of faces, initially conceived as props for a dance performance that never was. The body of work began with the smaller canvases which are scaled to the human face and were to be held by the dancers as masks. Reimagining a project that began a decade ago of quick gestures over gradient fields, Pruitt continues his pursuit of depicting the complexities of personality and emotion through these simple means. With these new paintings, the facial gestures are cut into the canvas with a razor – destructive and creative at the same time, these gestures are married to an accumulation of gradients, patterns, and prints to create a character.

SIZE? X DICKIES

Posted on 2020-12-14

size? is continuing its 20th anniversary celebrations through a new collaboration with Dickies Life. The collaborative, titled “The Meek Shall Inherit”, is inspired by nature, and showcases the contrast between the hardwearing, industrial workwear of Dickies and the natural world.

The collection’s key colors are black and khaki, and all of the pieces feature nature-inspired graphics. Stand-out items include the classic work pants, which are covered in images of mushrooms and plants, and the zip-up jacket which features an understated front with just an animated toadstool on the chest. The jacket’s reverse, however, bears a psychedelic graphic of various plants above the collection’s name.

ADIDAS SPEZIAL MANCHESTER 89 SPZL

Posted on 2020-12-14

This season, adidas Originals presents the latest footwear offering from adidas SPEZIAL. Having first been created as a limited edition silhouette in commemoration of its namesake city hosting the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the adidas Manchester has since become a significant cultural touchpoint for fans of the brand across the world. Today, adidas SPEZIAL pays homage to the shoe’s cultural roots with the launch of the Manchester 89 SPZL.

When it launched in 2002, the original adidas Manchester was in many ways an acknowledgement of the love affair between youths in the North West of England and the adidas ‘City Series’ that began in the 1980s and continues to this day. The original ‘City Series’ didn’t actually contain a shoe named after the city of Manchester so creating a low profile shoe that used Manchester in its naming served to highlight that city’s role in the history of this iconic series of shoes.

The shoe’s stripes and heel moustache are comprised of reflective materials and feature parallel edged stripes – a unique detail of a number of late 1980s Austrian made ‘city series’ footwear releases. Finally, rounding out the look is the addition of debossed Mod Trefoil logos on both tongues as well as the heel moustache of the left shoe.

Launching globally on December 16th.
