MARIA SVARBOVA – YESTERDAY’S FUTURE

Posted on 2020-06-01

Slovakian photographer Maria Svarbova creates hauntingly still images of women in Socialist Era public swimming pools. Her work on the series In the Swimming Pool earned her a 2018 Hasselblad Masters Award in Fine Art Photography. Her signature style merges cool stillness, a striking color palette and unspoken tension. Early on, her photographic work moved from traditional portraits to capture wider topics, generating works with unmistakably characteristic atmosphere. Addressing the loneliness and isolation of contemporary life, her work manages to be both non-sentimental and emotionally powerful. Mária Švarbová was born in 1988 in Slovakia. She studied conservation – restoration and archeology, however since 2010 she has been dedicated to photography as her main tool of artistic expression. She lives and works in Bratislava, Slovakia.

MONKEY TIME X SONIC YOUTH

Posted on 2020-06-01

The capsule comes with a total of four T-shirts, colored in blue, brown, white and black, each nodding to signature motifs and album artwork from the band. One of the band’s most recognizable graphics is a print of a white laundry machine — album artwork of Washing Machine (1995). Popping out from a bright blue background, the image is thinly etched with black outlines with “Sonic Youth” stamped at the center of the print. Another T-shirt sports a print of the band’s album cover Goo from 1990. It features a hand-drawn illustration that was originally based on a newspaper photograph of Maureen Hindley and David Smith, key witnesses in the 1966 Moors Murders trial.
