RICHARD JEWELL

Posted on 2020-01-06

Directed by Clint Eastwood and based on true events, “Richard Jewell” is a story of what happens when what is reported as fact obscures the truth.

“There is a bomb in Centennial Park. You have thirty minutes.” The world is first introduced to Richard Jewell as the security guard who reports finding the device at the 1996 Atlanta bombing—his report making him a hero whose swift actions save countless lives. But within days, the law enforcement wannabe becomes the FBI’s number one suspect, vilified by press and public alike, his life ripped apart. Reaching out to independent, anti-establishment attorney Watson Bryant, Jewell staunchly professes his innocence. But Bryant finds he is out of his depth as he fights the combined powers of the FBI, GBI and APD to clear his client’s name, while keeping Richard from trusting the very people trying to destroy him.

NANCY LORENZ – ALCHEMY

Posted on 2020-01-06

Nancy Lorenz’s work fuses a deep understanding of Post-War abstraction with a reverence for the craft and materials of traditional Asian art. Reinterpreting Japanese aestheticism with unrestrained brushwork often yielding unexpected results, Lorenz employs techniques that give material form to the relationship between fine art, craft, and design. The range of her pictoral gesture is closer to the modern abstraction of Joan Mitchell and Lee Krasner, combined with with traditionally-considered decorative techniques such as precious stone inlay, lacquer, and methods of water gilding and burnishing. The artist spent half a decade living in Tokyo, Japan, which left her with a deep understanding of luxurious materials, such as mother-of-pearl, kijiro-urushi (lacquer), and gold leaf, as well as the ability to employ them in painterly gestures that meditate on the Sublime.

ROBERT HOLYHEAD – NO MOVEMENT, NO COLOUR

Posted on 2020-01-06

Created between 2018 and 2019, the large works are relatable in size to both the viewer and spaces they are held in, without losing the intimacy of each composition.
Each work is produced in a single semi-translucent colour, showing visible traces of brushstrokes that operate around precisely defined shapes of immaculate white ground. Created in long single sessions, not unlike durational performances, the paintings evolve from watercolour drawings produced over several weeks or months. During this lead-up, spatial decisions are rigorously tested, and ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ visual components meticulously balanced. Erasure, shown in the lighter sections of the works where oil pigment has been carefully removed, contributes to the active nature of the paintings.

ADIDAS ULTRABOOST 20 “CITY PACK”

Posted on 2020-01-06

Adidas drops a new revamp of the UltraBOOST 20 silhouette, which represent an assemblage of cities in the Asia Pacific region with this “City Pack.” Featured are eight colorways that call to the cities of Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Sydney, Osaka, Taipei and Singapore.

Beginning at the top of the shoe, adidas’ logo is stamped at the tongue, followed by thin flat laces below that spell out “adidas” in the corresponding city’s native language. The silhouette boasts soft Primeknit textiles all the way from the middle of the collars to the end of the toe cap, while cushioned neoprene is placed at the heels for extra support. Three stripes are placed over the sidewall cage, complemented by a supporting rubber heel piece that extends over the rear quarters. All eight sneakers come with a three-letter abbreviation of the city printed over the back heel of the essential full-length tri-toned BOOST midsole.

For this all-new rendition, New Balance combines a base made of black mesh with overlaying panels of metallic silver faux leather and red welt branding. Together, the colorway is as retro-inspired as the shoe itself, reworking the M1200, RC205 and M1000-inspired panels with a technical, sporty aesthetic that is continued via the sneaker’s capabilities, achieved via the ABZORB sole unit that enhances cushioning.
