Ewing Athletics present the Ace Ventura x Mache x #Ewing 33 HI. Originally founded in 1994, the movie is known as a cult comedy classic and is now celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We have teamed up with the premier sneaker customizer Mache to have him design his first production shoe for his favorite movie. This collaborative sneaker flaunts a sublimated toe box and vamp with a design taken from Ace Ventura’s shirt in the film. The heel features faux croc leather and the sole is a translucent ice bottom. Featuring premium custom packaging, and branding throughout, this is the most detail oriented project Ewing has ever released, spearheaded by Mache. The flagship Ewing Athletics shoe, the 33 HI, is an exact retro of the 1990 original. It features a classic reversible ankle strap that can be worn on the front or back of the shoe and a full-length PU midsole for cushioning
TweetYohji Yamamoto and New Era continue their partnership with a limited collection. A 7.5-ounce T-shirt and the famed 9THIRTY curved visor cap, the Y-3 creative director’s iconic signature takes centerstage in shades of yellow, turquoise and neon orange placed against a stark black backdrop. New Era’s own emblem is placed on the left-hand side of both variations, elevating Yamamoto’s embroidered trademark as the main design element.
TweetThe Swarm, Terence Fixmer’s first release since the excellent Through The Cortex LP, is a record that opens up exciting new possibilities for the producer. This is largely due to the fact that, after much time spent collecting parts, Fixmer has finally finished assembling a rare Roland System 100 synthesiser. He uses the machine to add both warmth and grit to his EBM style. While ‘The Swarm’, ‘The Dawn’ and ‘No Dreams’ are fizzing techno bangers, ‘FFR2’ softens its edges with a sombre lead line.
TweetVanta is a construction for the savage. It reaches the profane along with the cryptical. The EP includes 5 tracks in which Zomby redetermines his access to techno by developing a language that is archaic. A language that is his own.
TweetIn 1967 armed with a Rolleiflex, Irving Penn came to San Francisco. He rented a building in Sausalito that allowed him to photograph under plenty of northern light, with beams strong enough to bear the weight of the Hell’s Angels’ motorcycles. This studio—like countless studios Penn used over the course of his career—became a neutral space where the photographer and subject could focus on the task at hand to capture individual expression. Photographing them in his signature smooth pared-down style, Irving Penn brought equal consideration and expertise into his work with young hippie couples, motorcyclists, and radical nude dancers as he did with celebrated actors, artists, and luminaries of his time. Decades later, Pace Gallery is honored to bring the work of Irving Penn to the San Francisco Bay Area.
