MASTERS OF PHOTOGRAPHY 2018
2018-11-05The third edition of Huxley-Parlour Gallery’s annual exhibition Masters of Photography will include 30 masterworks by leading international photographers. Over 100 years of photography in all its many genres – documentary, fashion, still-life, conceptual and portraiture are represented in the exhibition. The individual works have been chosen due to the provenance of the print or the image’s role in the history of the medium.
Highlights range from the well-known, Alfred Eisenstaedt’s VJ-Day in Times Square from 1945 and Richard Avedon’s landmark fashion image, Dovima with Elephants 1955, to the rare, a vintage print of Arnold Newman’s portrait of composer Igor Stravinsky, shown alongside a unique set of contact prints, revealing his working practice.
Opposite – Ray K. Metzker, 81 DA-2, from ‘City Whispers’, 1981
Exhibition runs through to November 10th, 2018
