Migratory tracks the travels of birds and humans alike, with vibraphone and marimba unfolding in shimmering waves above the taut drones of the shō and the breeze of saxophones. Synths chirp and percussion chimes and everything slowly changes; the album expands with the expertly measured gait of Moor Mother’s spoken word on ‘Our Mother’s Lights’, musing on worldly connection through migration, and Hatis Noit’s gentle lullaby set to a verdant backdrop of cicada calls on ‘Higurashi’.
