GOING TO THE DOGS

Following his acclaimed film In The Middle, filmmaker Greg Cruttwell returns with GOING TO THE DOGS, a balanced feature documentary about class, culture, community and dogs, dogs.

After World War 2 greyhound racing was the second most popular sport in the UK, second only to football, with an annual attendance of 75 million.

Traditionally seen to be for the working classes the sport has met with challenges that others have not had to face. In the face of stadium closures and the rise of other sports it has been on a steady decline since the 1960s.

Societal attitudes towards animal welfare have also changed over the years, and greyhound racing has become heavily criticised and campaigned against. The over breeding and culling of greyhounds have been highlighted in the news in recent times, forcing the sport to attempt to clean up its act and change with the times.
