BETTER GIFT SHOP X ROOTS X MOTOWN RECORDS
2019-11-18Motown Records is celebrating its 60th year as a record company and, with help from Better Gift Shop and the Canadian heritage label Roots, it is releasing a limited-edition 60th-anniversary varsity jacket.
Manufactured at Roots’ leather factory in Toronto, Canada, the jacket comes in rich delicate navy-toned melton wool, complemented by cream-colored Italian leather sleeves. The back of the jacket features an arched “MOTOWN” felt patch sewn at the top, followed by its “M” logo and “Better Gift Shop” branding below. Coming with sleek tonal central snap buttons, the front of the jacket sees a large “B” patch sewn over the upper left chest, contrasted by “Motown / 60th Anniversary / 1959 – 2019 Detroit, U.S.A.” embroidery on the right side. One noteworthy highlight of the jacket is all the tight-woven patches placed along the sleeves, etched with graphic logos of some of Motown’s sub-labels.
