ADIDAS SPZL – NG MARATHON & LG ACHILLE

Posted on 2025-08-08

For over two decades, British musical icons Liam and Noel Gallagher have maintained close relationships with Gary Aspden – curator of the adidas SPZL range, often wearing and on occasion doing product collaborations with the German sportswear brand. Now, with the two brothers reunited for a world tour, they have struck a partnership with the Three Stripes that sees each of them launching a new adidas SPZL trainer.

Having previously joined forces with adidas SPZL to create the LG SPZL and two colourways of the LGII SPZL, for this new shoe Liam Gallagher requested to work on bringing back a revised version of one of the brand’s archival runners – the adidas Achille. Made up in a tonal colourway with some tweaks to the upper pattern the adidas LG Achille SPZL features a khaki mesh base, with chocolate brown stripes, a beige suede T-toe overlay and a sand outsole.

Noel first worked with adidas on the NG72 trainers back in 2011 and his last official collaboration was with adidas SPZL in the form of the highly limited NG Garwen SPZL that immediately sold out back in 2017. Nearly a decade later Noel Gallagher turns his focus to a new hybrid inspired by the adidas Marathon 85 silhouette. Keeping the suede upper and rubber outsole of the Marathon 85 this new version comes in a deep navy/sky blue palette with a reworked toe box (that adds a ‘T’ toe overlay) and midsole as well as details like the Eco-Tex tongue and tonal eyelets.

Both shoes are then completed with the instantly recognisable portraits of their namesakes on the tongues, as well as spare laces, co-branded sock liners, and commemorative packaging.

Coinciding with the brothers’ Irish tour dates, the adidas LG Achille SPZL and the adidas NG Marathon SPZL are set to launch via adidas SPZL stockists and the adidas Carnaby and MCR retail stores on August 16th.

NICOLAS DESHAYES – THE NATURAL WORLD

Posted on 2025-08-04

Since 2017, Deshayes has been making ceramics in the Italian province of Vicenza, an area historically known for manufacturing hand-decorated majolica plates and glazed fruit. Over time, the local workshops have expanded to produce sanitary ware, crockery, funerary urns and ornaments. Deshayes is best known for exploring the material of the human body via amorphous sculpture. Here, he pivots to a more notably figurative language. Each work is modelled, cast, sponged, baked, honed and polychromed, and the exhibition encompasses many cultural registers, from classic historical motifs to contemporary cultural objects. For Deshayes, this multiplicity allows him to question our preconceived notion of taste.

ÁLVARO URBANO – PRELUDE

Posted on 2025-08-04

Working in the intersection of theater, architecture and film, Álvaro Urbano transforms spaces into immersive environments emulating an oneiric dimension. Through atmospheric installations Urbano researches the ruin as a space where reality and fiction commingle. Staged gestures and reconstituted narratives are used to conjure these lost and heterotopic spaces; disrupting archetypes and objects from their original function render them open to interpretation. For Prelude, Urbano revisits The Ramble, a woodland area of Central Park and a known space of transit whose public distinction borrows from a legacy of 19th-century landscape design – celebrated in the parlance of its time for “obscurity, not absolutely impenetrable, but sufficient to affect imagination with a sense of mystery.”
