CLIPSE X ADIDAS SAMBA

To the uninformed, the cream-and-white-colored pair might be the first time either Thornton brother has been linked to the popular Adidas Originals model, but that’s incorrect. Back in January 2023, Pusha T stepped out to Paris Fashion Week® in an exclusive Thorn-branded pair of the T-toe offering. A public launch never occurred, but it seems that this idea was repurposed for Clipse’s reunion and album rollout.

As with Pusha T’s own work with the Three Stripes, the collaborative Samba draws inspiration from a certain snow-reminiscent substance often associated with Clipse’s raps. Cream-colored leather takes over the bulk of the sneaker, with the sole unit opting for a similar look. Profile 3-Stripes and Achilles’ heel panels deviate in pure white, while adidas Clipse text appears on the lateral wall. The fold-over tongue hides the same Thorn branding seen on a previous pair worn by Pusha T.

IGSHAAN ADAMS – VERKENNING

Verkenning, translating from Afrikaans as “to explore or the process of gaining knowledge.” In a series of wall-based tapestries, hanging sculptures, and three-dimensional weavings spanning 2023 – the present, Adams decodes communal and individual material histories by treating movement as medium.

DUSTIN YELLIN – IF A BIRD’S NEST IS NATURE, WHAT IS A HOUSE?

As I tried to make sense of this cosmic and unsettling truth, I was reminded of Dustin Yellin’s work—specifically Politics of Eternity (2020), a 10,000-pound work composed of seven laminated glass panels that unfold as a sweeping triptych of civilization’s mythic past, industrial present, and speculative future. Structured in mirrored acts, the piece moves from an ancient ritual scene to a futuristic orbital gathering, with a central tableau depicting the relentless march of modernity across a sea of tall ships and supertankers. As with much of Yellin’s practice, it resists chronology in favor of simultaneity, layering fragments of imagery and time into a fragile but vivid whole.

JO ANN CALLIS – DISH TRICK

Dish Trick is a collection of photographs taken by Jo Ann Callis from 1983 to 1985 that explores the quiet power and emotional resonance of domestic forms, positioning them as stable anchors in contrast to the impermanence of human relationships. The exhibition is presented alongside the release of Dish Trick, a new book by Luhz Press.

LANDON NORDEMAN – LAST NIGHT

Shot over the course of a decade, LAST NIGHT offers an instinctive, flash-lit look at the rituals of contemporary social performance, from inside the rarefied swirl of exclusive parties. With a visual language that embraces bold color, theatrical framing, and surreal timing, Nordeman captures the strangeness, humor, and spectacle—where socialites and superstars gather to celebrate the most beautiful things in the world… themselves. Working up close and among his subjects, Nordeman uses his camera and flash to make unexpected photographs of subjects well-practiced in performance. The result can be both abstracting and humanizing. Drawn to the alluring interplay of fashion and flesh, shadow and color, Nordeman discovers honest moments hidden in a world of artifice.

ANNE LARSEN AND JOHN SEXTON – EMBRACING LIGHT

The Center for Photographic Art is pleased to present Embracing Light, a unique two-person exhibition featuring the work of renowned fine art photographers Anne Larsen and John Sexton. They have been sharing a life together along with their passion for photography and exploring the land with large and medium format film cameras, for over thirty years. Their mutual devotion to the beauty of the handcrafted silver gelatin print, created in the traditional darkroom, lies at the heart of their artistic expression.

Included in this exhibition, for the first time, will be a body of work they undertook over multiple photographic journeys exploring Venice, Italy. The exhibit will also include stunning images of the natural environment, as well as human-made subjects. For both photographers the use of light as it graces the subject, and its use throughout the photographic process, is essential. Though their palettes are different, both Anne’s and John’s prints share a common beauty and luminosity.
