A visually stunning movie with an exciting mix of action, humor, and heart, Die In A Gunfight follows Mary (Alexandra Daddario) and Ben (Diego Boneta), the star-crossed black sheep of two powerful families engaged in a centuries-long feud. When Mary and Ben reignite an affair after many years apart, their forbidden love triggers a dangerous collision of schemers and killers. BABAR X ROWING BLAZERS SUMMER 2021

Posted on 2021-06-14

New York’s Rowing Blazers has reunited with Babar the Elephant for a second collaboration selling the French children’s book character. Marking the character’s 90th anniversary.

Announcing the second collaboration, Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson said, “Babar has always been one of my favorite characters in all of literature. He’s stylish, kind, worldly — all the things I aspired to be when I was growing up. When we launched our collaboration with Babar this past winter, it was one of my favorite things Rowing Blazers has ever done, and I was so thrilled to see how well it resonated with our community. But the world of Babar is so rich, and we only scratched the surface.”

RENÉE GREEN – EXCERPTS A.1

Posted on 2021-06-14

Presented for the first time, these richly layered paintings provide dream-like narratives stemming from the time spent by the artist in Mexico during the 1980s, as well as that decade’s US-backed political violence and societal turmoil in Central and South America. The images call to mind the equivocal storytelling of Green’s 1994 bilingual novel, Camino Road, tracing a New York art student’s illusive reminiscence of a road trip to Mexico.

RYUICHI SAKAMOTO & DAVID TOOP

Posted on 2021-06-14

Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Toop seem to have followed similar trajectories over their many decades in music. At roughly the same age, their individual ventures from pop into avant-garde have continuously run parallel to each other’s, and so Garden of Shadows and Light — recorded live in concert in London, August 2018 — feels like the culmination of two like-minds finally coming together. The approach is as simple as it is alien; Sakamoto’s inside-piano work plucks out haunting music box melodies, flitting between melodic ideas as Toop adorns the scene with distant scrapes and wails from his prepared lap steel

LYRA PRAMUK – FOUNTAIN (ARS AMATORIA)

Posted on 2021-06-14

Musician and producer Lyra Pramuk is a true enigma of modern music; a creator of immense sensitivity with an ability to convey deep intimacy through sound, and yet conversely, a rather slippery, chameleonic figure spanning multiple boundaries (classical and electronic music being the all-too-simple categorisation; the organic and the post-human being a fittingly nuanced description).

Her debut album Fountain, (one of Bleep’s Top 10 Albums of 2020), was named for a translation of her Czech family name, treads the personal and the abstract with operatic vocalisations and completely unknowable forms of studio magick, its follow-up, Delta, conversely incorporates a plethora of input from guests and well-wishers to craft a remix album in essence and a wholly singular, collaborative ‘second LP’ in its own right.
