IVAN IACOBUCCI – AZYMUTH

Posted on 2021-06-28

The 127th edition of the mighty Perlon series comes in the form of Ivan Iacobucci’s Azymuth EP, four wavey house and minimal excursions on a disorientating and misty late-night tip. Leading out with ‘Carry On’ and its off-centre melodic drive, the signature Perlon prang is there in spades throughout proceedings. Highlight track ‘Sway Zone’ has a deliciously dark groove, with breaks and tripped out sonics woven into its four-four template.

LEVI’S VINTAGE FALL/WINTER 2021

Posted on 2021-06-28

While the former pair celebrated London in all its stark glory, Offspring has headed to L.A. for the inspiration of the ZX 420, dousing it in a myriad of panels that come already fitted out (and some that can be customized by you). Inspired by thrift and farmer’s markets that frequent the streets of L.A., elements such as “Lemon” and “Mint” corduroy mix with “Sunshine Orange” suede to create a summer-ready sneaker.

Alongside this are panels made from natural, undyed canvas, which have been left clean so you can get creative. With each purchase will come a cookbook featuring recipes from London and L.A., and within this are instructions on how to make natural dyes from food waste. With this dye, you can then use the supplied paintbrush to incorporate your own style into the shoes, which subsequently also references adidas Originals’ past with releases such as the “Oddity Pack” or adiColor.

ROLAND L. FREEMAN – PORTFOLIO

Posted on 2021-06-28

Freeman draws inspiration from a life growing up in both rural Maryland and urban Baltimore. At an early age, he met author and folklorist Zora Neale Hurston, whose writings would later inform Freeman’s narrative style of visual storytelling. His passion for photographing the human condition was inspired by studying the photographs of Gordon Parks and other Depression-era Farm Security Administration photographers. A major influence on Freeman’s many long-term documentary projects was Roy DeCarava, who documented New York’s Harlem Renaissance of the late 1940s-1950s.

PAOLO ROVERSI – BIRDS

Posted on 2021-06-28

Birds is the first North American exhibition of legendary fashion photographer Paolo Roversi. Presented at Dallas Contemporary, the exhibition features over 20 of Roversi’s photographic works and focuses on his longstanding collaboration with the fashion brand Comme des Garçons and its founder Rei Kawakubo.

Titled Birds to highlight Roversi’s use of movement in photography, the exhibition examines how the Italian photographer has created a unique visual style in which models pose in abstract, mobile ways, often evoking birds landing or taking off. At Dallas Contemporary, visitors encounter groupings of photographs in varying sizes when entering the museum’s galleries and are able to explore Roversi’s work through one unifying theme in the exhibition, mobility, to foster new connections and interpretations around his oeuvre.
