Marie Davidson is back with a new album, a new band, and a bold new sound: “Renegade Breakdown” is set for release on Ninja Tune. Arriving under the banner of Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu, a trio formed of three old-time friends and long-term collaborators with shared roots in Montreal’s DIY scene: Marie, Pierre Guerineau and Asaël R. Robitaille (the former two are also husband and wife, and partners in the group Essaie pas). Drawn to the idea of the eternal return, they deliver a forward-facing, innovative pop record that builds on the classic tenets of Marie’s music to create something that strikes out towards a broader audience. With dark humour and interpolated musical influences—from Fleetwood Mac to Kraftwerk, and jazz classics such as Billie Holiday and Chet Baker, they spin each of its entries in wildly imaginative directions.

Coming in colorways of black, white and navy, the T-shirts are emblazoned with vintage black and white photos of the rap group, alongside bold “NEIGHBORHOOD” branding.

New Balance teams up with BEAMS to revisit their RC205 model, a vintage long-distance running shoe from 1996 originally named COMP800. A large square “205” patch logo is placed at the top of the shoe, followed by gray laces that cover the forefoot. Woven along the sidewalls is New Balance’s double-stacked “N” logo, framed by smooth full-grain leather panels that cover the throatline, quarters and lower midsection. Furthermore, black suede is placed at the toecap and rear quarter, while “NB” branding is stamped at the heel.

Welcome to Little Happy, a tiny man-made island in the Mozambique Channel that’s home to a flourishing nursery of marine life, where Great Whites come to mate and give birth every year. This peaceful conservatory is overseen by Emma Collins and her team of environmentalists, determined to continue her late father’s legacy. This idyllic existence comes to an abrupt end, however, when Emma’s ex-boyfriend arrives on the hunt for three bull sharks accused of butchering a half-dozen people. Their mother Bella was genetically engineered to be smarter and far more destructive. As the body count rises it becomes clear that Bella’s offspring have inherited her enhancements, and if free to mate, will mark the end of life as we know it. Dive in for the deadliest, bloodiest return to the deep blue sea yet!
