A brawl on Everest? Director Jennifer Peedom set out to uncover tension in the 2014 Everest climbing season from the Sherpas’ point of view and instead captured a tragedy when an avalanche struck, killing 16 Sherpas. Sherpa tells the story of how the Sherpas united after the tragedy in the face of fierce opposition, to reclaim the mountain they call Chomolungma.

TweetThe first national Jerwood/Photoworks Awards recognise outstanding future photographic talent. The awards have enabled three artists to develop their practice and create new work.
Selected from an open call for applications, the three awardees Matthew Finn, Joanna Piotrowska, and Tereza Zelenkova have been supported by guidance from a pool of thirteen mentors including Alec Soth, Gillian Wearing, Broomberg & Chanarin and Michael Mack as well as curatorial advice from both of the award giving organisations.

Exhibited together for the first time, the photographs of the late Linda McCartney and her daughter Mary explore the connective tissue of family, common experience, and a love of the photographic medium. Their images are highly instinctual, rather than analytical; as well they reveal a great ability to capture fleeting moments of intimacy.
Spanning three decades, works by the photographers are organized to reveal the almost symbiotic harmony between them. The exhibition is a treasury of moments derived from relaxed interactions with family, a dazzling array of celebrities—Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Kate Moss, Rihanna—and everyday life. Evident is a shared sensibility between mother and daughter in how they establish an emotional rapport with their subjects and exact a sense of their true selves. Rather than distinguishing between works by Linda or Mary, the installation proposes their vision of the world as one.
Since the mid-sixties Linda photographed such icons as B.B. King, The Rolling Stones, and The Grateful Dead, producing quintessential images that reflected the music revolution of her era. Her direct and distinctive photographs reflect the individual charisma of her subjects. In 1969, one year after being the first female photographer to do a cover for Rolling Stone Magazine, Linda married Beatles member Paul McCartney. Alongside photography, her interests ranged from writing and music to filmmaking and animal-rights activism; she continued to document landscape, portraits, family, and animals throughout her life.

TweetVanessa was only 21 years old when she had her first portrait exhibition at The Espace Paul Ricard in Paris and when she published her first book “Ombre Bianche”.
As a young photographer, Vanessa quickly made her mark. Her first contracts were with well-known luxury brands. She has immortalized film stars, fashion and art luminaries and important political figures. In 1997, she published Cartier’s Untamed as part of an event that celebrated the 150-year anniversary of the French jewelry company. It marked the end of a collaboration that consisted of a series of six books and numerous exhibitions in NYC, Paris, Rome, London, Berlin, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
She is internationally recognized for her famous nudes, striking portraits and her outstanding underwater horse images.
