SOPHIA NARRETT – THIS MEANT NOTHING

Posted on 2015-06-15

This Meant Nothing weaves together a narrative gleaned from social media including Tumblr, pop tabloids, softcore porn, fashion photography and personal history into breathtakingly beautiful, woven skeins of colored thread, leaving an indelible impression of mingled highbrow and lowbrow culture on the viewer. The line between fiction and reality is toyed with and blurred by Narrett as she unfolds the story, detail by detail, in her uniquely fabricated scenes.

The series of four sequential works follows two women through a confusing love story which begins on the set of “The Bachelor”. The narrative is cast with images of Lauren Morelli and Samira Wiley, the former of which is a writer for the TV show “Orange is the New Black,” and recently left her real life husband to be with Samira, one of the show’s main actresses. The story resolves itself painfully, and the end involves a mixture of punishment and heartbreak, as well as the lurking futility of escapism.

KNOCK KNOCK

Posted on 2015-06-15

Evan (Keanu Reeves) seems like the perfect guy. He’s an architect, lives in a beautiful California home, has two kids and a lovely talented wife. One afternoon, the wife and kids go to the beach but Evan has to stay home and work. It’s raining, he’s alone, listening to music, and there’s a knock at the door. Two beautiful young girls, played by Ana De Armas and Lorenza Izzo, are standing in the cold. They’re drenched, lost and just want to come in to dry off and use the phone.

MR. HOLMES

Posted on 2015-06-15

In 1947, the long-retired Sherlock Holmes, aged 93, lives in a remote Sussex farmhouse with his housekeeper, Mrs. Munro, and her young son, Roger. Holmes reflects on his life while writing in his journals, tending to his bees, and dealing with the deterioration of his once incredible mind. The film, like the novel, uses flashbacks to reveal events of the past, when he was still at the height of his fame and mental ability at his Baker Street consulting rooms, and during a visit to Japan.
Based on the 2005 novel A Slight Trick of the Mind written by Mitch Cullin.

Entourage,” the much-anticipated big-screen version of the award-winning hit HBO series, reunites the show’s original cast, led by Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven. Movie star Vincent Chase (Grenier), together with his boys, Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Johnny (Dillon), are back…and back in business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Piven). Some of their ambitions have changed, but the bond between them remains strong as they navigate the capricious and often cutthroat world of Hollywood.
