PAULA SCHER

Posted on 2010-09-13

Paula Scher has been working for some time on a series of large-scale map paintings and prints. Under the auspices of New York’s Department of Cultural Affairs Percent for Art programme, which funds artists to create permanent public artworks in municipal buildings and spaces. Scher was commissioned to create the murals for the two schools, Queens Metropolitan High School and the Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School.
The two murals are located in an atrium and commons at the Metropolitan Campus and each cover approximately 2,430 square feet. One of the murals, a view of the New York metropolitan region with a focus on Queens, was completed this week; a second, of Metropolitan Avenue, will be installed in October. In the murals, New York City sprawls across the walls in vibrant color, wrapping around walls, corners and ceiling, creating a world in a room.

BURBERRY PRORSUM SHEARLING COATS

Posted on 2010-09-13

The Burberry family digs into their archives to offer four modern takes on shearling wool coats. “Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey has worked with original outerwear from the Burberry archive, updating each to provide a protective, functional and relevant design for the modern man.” Three of the shearlings come in an updated aviator jacket cut while the fourth is a military inspired look that allows for removable of the liner in warmer settings.

This part of the line is to us most impressive, as they are just so many beautiful pieces in the collection. From outdoor wool blankets, the watches, gloves, leather wallets, hats, bracelets to other great leather and metal accessories the line-up is extremely strong. Without a doubt, hobo may be the strongest accessories line in the market at the moment.

ADIDAS ORIGINALS OT TECH HIKE BOOT

Posted on 2010-09-13

Another colorway of the adidas Originals OT Tech Hike Spezial Boot, which is first being introduced for Fall 2010. We actually prefer this one, over the first black colorway. Beige and navy work really well together, also the color accents on the mid-sole are great. If we had to complain, we would love for the large size trefoil logo on the side not to be there actually. Otherwise a clean looking boot.

YUL – YUL BRYNNER : A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY

Posted on 2010-09-13

YUL is an exhibition comprised of 70 works celebrating the release of the book by the same title, which presents Brynner’s photographic oeuvre for the first time. Brynner’s reputation as one of the twentieth century’s most charismatic and versatile actors is irrefutable, but his talent as a photographer has been relatively unknown and unacknowledged, until now.The four-volume book, published by Edition 7L and edited by Brynner’s daughter Victoria Brynner, comprises a selection made from 8,000 images and press cuttings.
Lehmann Maupin’s exhibition will feature photographs chosen from each of the four volumes: “Lifestyle”, “Life on Set”, “1956”, and “Man of Style.”

Opposite – Yul Brynner, The King and I, Self Portrait, 1956

Exhibition runs through till September 25th, 2010
