FACTA – SO IS THE SUN

Posted on 2024-07-08

Facta lands back on his own Wisdom Teeth imprint for a new EP of laser-focused productions entitled So is the sun. Dropping into the label’s 10 year anniversary festivities with several weapons-grade dancefloor fillers, So is the sun is the result of robust rinsing from Facta and other heads in the WT family. Using turn-of-the-century minimal house as a spiritual guide, Facta turns out steam-y rollers like ‘Brain Drain’ with supple synths and kicks until you can practically feel the humidity.

CARIBOU – BROKE MY HEART (CHAMPION REMIX)

Posted on 2024-07-01

Caribou follows through on last month’s two-tracker single with a new remix EP for the track ‘Broke My Heart’. Out on Berlin’s City Slang imprint, with whom Caribou has had a longstanding relationship, this package takes the zippy, almost hyperpop-lite fizz of its sample material in two intersecting directions. Champion pitches that instantly catchy vocal chop down a few octaves to fit snugly around the walloping bass of speed garage take, while Harry Hayes keeps things in the high register as he two steps his way to the finish, as well.

KUČKA – HEAVYWEIGHT

Posted on 2024-06-17

Can You Hear Me Dreaming? is KUČKA’s second album for LUCKYME®. Her decade-plus of experience in the studio shines through on 12 tracks of laser-cut electronic production and irresistible pop songwriting. Slipping out of autobiographical mode and into other people’s stories, she explores the far reaches of her “cartoon brain”, riffing on a personal moodboard of everything from surreal creatures and rainy cityscapes to tattoos and “cute-ugly” pottery.

KUČKA is the solo project of electronic producer and songwriter Laura Jane Lowther. A Los Angeles transplant from Western Australia, with roots in the northwest of England, KUČKA is a self-powered producer, songwriter and vocalist who has collaborated with artists as varied as Flume, SOPHIE, Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Mount Kimbie and Vince Staples since her electrifying debut EP in 2012.

SOTE – SOUND SYSTEM PERSEPOLIS

Posted on 2024-06-10

Sote AKA Ata Ebtekar is completely melting minds with his second album of 2024. Responding to Iannis Xenakis’s iconic 1971 performance, Sound System Persepolis is synthetic abstraction in constant reconfiguration. From serrated swarms and surging streams of electricity to futuristic stabs and metallic clangs in a matter of seconds, these tracks morph and twist to the beat of a heaving, otherworldly club rhythm. ‘JNGLGHRSSPXHYRCANIA’ rages with a driving throb till it tears itself apart, and ‘WVTADTSSPXDAMAVAND’ pulsates with hyper tactile arpeggiated plucks in an expert display of sound design.
