UNKLE ON SCREEN
As part of ‘Daydreaming with… James Lavelle’ at the end of this month, the festival concludes with a special evening event with James Lavelle at the Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square, UNKLE On Screen. The event will feature the screening of a selection of UNKLE music videos, including the John Hillcoat directed video for new single ‘The Answer’, along commercials scored by the band, and the feature film ‘Odyssey in Rome’, directed by Alex Grazioli and scored by UNKLE.

Special outdoor screenings of Up, Twilight: Eclipse and Metropolis on Cambridge’s Grantchester Meadows. Pink Floyd loved the area so much they wrote a song about it, "Grantchester Meadows" from the album Ummagumma.

BALLETS RUSSES
Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director of CHANEL, has designed an exclusive costume for the 'The Dying Swan' as part of English National Ballet's Ballets Russes season at Sadler's Wells in June 2009. This year marks the centenary of the first performance by Serge Diaghilev's ballet at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Karl Lagerfeld has always had a personal interest in ballet and admires the creativity of English National Ballet. He comments that "...as a child I was already impressed by old images of Anna Pavlova dancing the ballet" adding that "...the Ballet Russes were an influence for me". The costume has been created for English National Ballet’s Senior Principal dancer, Elena Glurdjidze, who will wear the design for her performance of 'The Dying Swan'. She says "we always say that the look is 50% of how you are going to dance, so it is very important to have a beautiful costume". During her final fitting, she danced 'The Dying Swan' for Karl, who filmed the performance himself.

Director Spike Jonze first trailer for eagerly awaited film and one of my personal favorite childhood books - Where The Wild Things Are.
The story concerns the imaginary adventures of a young boy named Max, who is angry when his mother, Connie, invites her boyfriend over. After causing one mischievous antic after another, he is sent to his room without supper. Feeling angry and unloved, he then creates a forest bordering a massive ocean, and sails away to an island inhabited by many large imaginary monsters called the Wild Things, who crown him as their ruler.

Valentino The Last Emperor is a feature-length film on the legendary designer Valentino Garavani in the wake of his exit in 2008 from the company he founded in Rome more than 45 years ago.

But at the heart of the film is the unique relationship between Valentino and his business partner and companion of 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti.

COCO AVANT CHANEL
Audrey Tautou stars as Coco Chanel in a $15 million biopic about the legendary French fashion designer, helmed by Anne Fontaine. The film will focus on Chanel's childhood and early womanhood and was specially conceived with Tautou in mind, said Haut et Court's Caroline Benjo. "Anne said she would only make a film about Chanel if Audrey was in the lead. They met and both liked the idea." Script, penned by Fontaine and Christopher Hampton, who is also creative consultant, was freely adapted from the Chanel biography "L'Irreguliere" by Edmonde Charles-Roux.

ACNE for their underwear collection for SS09 continues to explore the creative medium of film. This season ACNE has worked again with young British Film Maker, Richard Brandon Cox on a film installation inspired by the underwear collection. The textile work of Louis Bourgeois is a keen reference point for this season designs with inspired tone on tone checks and spots permeating the collection. Urban Cowboys were also a key influence with Bandanna Prints and Tie Dye being key to the season.
ACNE continues to develop styles in the worlds best Supima Cotton and stretch woven fabrics, producing trunks, boxers and briefs, perfect to wear under ACNE denim.

THE TING TINGS GET POLLOCKED
The Ting Tings played an exclusive free gig for their fans in their hometown of Manchester on Friday the 27th of February. The venue was an all white space and every fan who attended the gig was given a full white adidas Originals tracksuit. The duo, armed with paint guns, invited fans to interact creatively with paints and pens, covering the entire venue with an explosion of color and creating a music and art spectacle - a living and breathing mural.

Following his acclaimed Spring/Summer 2009 ready-to-wear show for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs knew exactly who he wanted to embody the spirit of the season: Madonna should be the face of Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer fashion campaign. The iconic pop star was photographed by her long-time creative collaborator Steven Meisel, the first time the influential fashion photographer has shot a campaign for Louis Vuitton. The chemistry between the two is evident as in a sepia-toned setting reminiscent of a Paris café in the Forties, with its zinc bar, bentwood chairs and air thick with smoke Madonna transforms into Marc Jacobs' vision of the quintessential Parisienne, striking provocative poses in the season's sexy short skirts, ethnic-inspired sandals and animal-print bangles. The first visuals show Madonna with the collection's emblematic slouchy bags in Monogram canvas and Monogram-embossed leather.
"I wanted the campaign to be very bold, very sensual and very atmospheric. To carry off all these references and all this sophistication, we needed the ultimate performer and for me, that is Madonna " says Marc Jacobs.

Steven Soderbergh's forthcoming movie promises to be a revealing look at the world of prostitution from an elite call girl's point of view. The Girlfriend Experience will feature adult movie actress Sasha Grey in the lead role. Grey will play a high-class call girl in this low-budget feature, which looks like it might be one of the Oscar-winning film-maker's frequent journeys into experimental territory. The screenplay has been penned by Ocean's Thirteen writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien and judging from the trailer will be one of 2009's sleeper hits.

Karl Lagerfeld has debuted his directorial 10-Min short film of Gabrielle Chanel's early years.
It's a "glamorous, big-budget short film of the silent variety "
Cast include model Brad Koenig and Lagerfeld's bodyguard/private secretary Sébastien Jondeau. Model Edita Vilkeviciute plays the young Coco. Workers in the Chanel atelier got to play parts as workers in the fashion house as well.
"The second part of the film takes place in 1923, when Chanel was already established"
