NATHAN MABRY: GOODGOD
2014-05-13GOODGOD is a formal exploration of ancient signs and symbols combined with references to current universal gestures, elements of popular culture, spiritual and mythological belief systems and art historical innuendo. Mabry’s long term interest in creation myths comes to the fore in this exhibition as one moves from the double-handed gesture of two tectonic minimalist Cor-ten steel hands that are locked in an unending embrace, to the ritualistically weeping fecund figurative fountain to polished bronze dinosaur skulls installed as silent mnemonic instruments.
