OTW BY VANS – OLD SKOOL 36 VIBRAM

Posted on 2025-11-10

The “Floral Black” pair features a vibrant, colorful floral textile upper, beautifully contrasted with black accents. The shoe’s upper is constructed with durable duck canvas and elevated with full-grain leather overlays on the toe cap, lace stay, and heel, providing a significantly more premium look and texture than the mainline products. Metal rivet details are also incorporated throughout the sneaker, adding a final refined touch to the design.

In contrast, the “Silver/Grey” pair exudes a rebellious attitude with a distressed canvas upper that showcases torn and frayed details, giving the sneaker an unapologetic, punk-inspired vibe. The predominantly black upper maintains a sleek and sharp aesthetic for the silhouette.

POWELL – WE GLIMPSE A WORLD

Posted on 2025-11-03

Diagonal’s Powell returns for a new LP entitled We Do Recover. Something like a beacon of hope after a darker period, the bright lines of We Do Recover are shaded by loss, and the things we do in the wake of that to regain our humanity. Collected from works dated as far back as 2018, Powell plays around with contrasts here to great effect. The almost triumphant ‘Life’ beckons with a tuneful march before horror movie synth squelches turn everything sideways, while the hauntingly muffled ‘K2’ sounds like a very moody rave is happening a few doors down.

SASHA BEZZUBOV – ON EVEREST

Posted on 2025-11-03

On Everest is a poignant photographic series by Sasha Bezzubov, created between 2016 and 2024 during multiple treks through Nepal’s Everest region. The project focuses on the unseen labor force behind Himalayan tourism—the porters who carry the immense weight of the trekking industry, both literally and metaphorically. Through portraits and landscapes, Bezzubov honors these men and women who traverse steep, perilous terrain under extraordinary conditions, their resilience etched into every frame.

Far from romanticized depictions of mountaineering heroism, Bezzubov’s work turns its lens toward the realities of those sustaining it. The porters’ loads, often exceeding 130 pounds, consist of everything from beer crates to construction materials. They are paid by weight and must cover their own meals and lodging, sharing beds and skipping food to save money. These photographs reveal a system of endurance and inequity—where physical strength meets social invisibility, and survival depends on shouldering impossible burdens.
