SIZE? X ADIDAS ORIGINALS – ANNIVERSARY CITY SERIES

Posted on 2020-12-21

Size? has revealed the final installment of its “Anniversary City Series” with adidas Originals. Following releases themed around cities including Shanghai and Havana, the latest sneaker is inspired by Johannesburg and the “City of Gold” nickname often given to the South African city.

Referencing this inspiration, the sneaker is dressed entirely in golden suede, which is complemented by shiny gold detailing on the serrated Three Stripes branding and heel tab. The design is then finished with gold embossed “JOBURG” on the sidewall and “1/2020” on the heel. The gold upper sits atop a full-length classic gum sole, referencing the other “Anniversary City Series” releases from earlier this year.

PETER SANDBICHLER – THE GOLDEN BAR

Posted on 2020-12-21

Peter Sandbichler is interested in functional shifts and content-related condensations that result from the reuse of found objects or materials. For more than 10 years he has been using packaging cartons as a resource-saving material, which allows him to “think big” and to realise spaceconsuming installations. The principle of folding two-dimensional surfaces into three-dimensional, modular structures proves to be a central constructive and aesthetic element.
The exhibition is deliberately oriented towards the street in order to create a dialogue with pedestrians. Various unusually presented objects – including a Tensegrity Light (1999/2020) made of six fluorescent tubes, an Alte Schachtel (engl. old box; 2020) made of papier-mâché or a concrete cast of an elephant leaf (2020) – create a new, sometimes irritating atmosphere. The work Fliegenauge (engl. fly’s eye; 2011) on the front wall of the main room contributes to this. Its recessed convex round mirrors are reminiscent of those used in road traffic or in “panoptic”
buildings – such as prisons. Inevitably, a surveillance situation is suggested in which visitors can be observed from different perspectives.

Opposite – DIE ZEIT, WISSEN, 14. DEZEMBER 2017, 2017

Exhibition runs through to February 27thh, 2021

HUNTER HUNTER

Posted on 2020-12-14

HUNTER HUNTER follows a family living in the remote wilderness earning a living as fur trappers. Joseph Mersault (Devon Sawa), his wife Anne (Camille Sullivan), and their daughter Renée (Summer H. Howell) struggle to make ends meet and think their traps are being hunted by the return of a rogue wolf. Determined to catch the predator in the act, Joseph leaves his family behind to track the wolf. Anne and Renée grow increasingly anxious during Joseph’s prolonged absence and struggle to survive without him. When they hear a strange noise outside their cabin, Anne hopes it is Joseph but instead finds a man named Lou (Nick Stahl), who has been severely injured and left for dead. The longer Lou stays and Joseph is away, the more paranoid Anne becomes, and the idea of a mysterious predator in the woods slowly becomes a threat much closer to home.

ANOTHER ROUND

Posted on 2020-12-14

There is an obscure philosophical theory that humans should have been born with a small amount of alcohol in our blood; that modest inebriation opens our minds to the world around us, diminishing problems and increasing creativity.

Intrigued, Martin (Mads Mikkelsen) and three of his friends, all weary high school teachers, embark on a risky experiment to maintain a constant level of intoxication throughout the workday.

Initial results are positive, but as the units are knocked back and stakes are raised, it becomes increasingly clear that some bold acts carry severe consequences.
