DEANNE DAY – THE LONG FIRST FRIDAY
2020-11-23Andrew Weatherall and David Harrow made a striking near-one-off of forward-thinking deep house in 1996 under their diva-indebted collaborative moniker Deanne Day. As dedicated to classy Detroit house as it is to the club scenes of 1990s London, ‘The Long First Friday’ and ‘Hardly Breathe’ are about as spacious as progressive house gets. The a-side drives an 808 beat to the moon and back via clusters of vibrant synths, as the b-side injects a clangorous host of hi-end and bumping bass for an overall perfect slice of dancefloor magic.
