ALOYS

Posted on 2016-09-05

Aloys Adorn is a middle aged private detective who lives and works with his father. He experiences life from a safe distance, through a video camera he keeps recording 24 hours a day, and the massive collection of surveillance tapes he organizes and obsessively watches at home. But when his father dies, Aloys is left on his own and his sheltered existence begins to fall apart. After a night of heavy drinking, Aloys wakes up on a public bus to find that his camera and precious observation tapes have been stolen. Soon after, a mysterious woman calls to blackmail him. She offers to return the tapes if Aloys will try an obscure Japanese invention called ‘telephone walking’ with her, using his imagination as their only connection. As he is drawn deeper and deeper, falling in love with the voice on the other end of the phone, the woman opens up a new universe that may allow Aloys to break out of his isolation and into the real world.

Reeling from a terrifying assault over the summer, 19-year-old Brad Land (Ben Schnetzer) starts college determined to get his life back to normal. His brother, Brett (Nick Jonas), is already established on campus and with a fraternity that allures Brad with its promise of protection, popularity, and life-long friendships. Brad is desperate to belong but as he sets out to join the fraternity his brother exhibits reservations, a sentiment that threatens to divide them. As the pledging ritual moves into hell week, a rite that promises to usher these unproven boys into manhood, the stakes violently increase with a series of torturous and humiliating events. CUT COPY – JANUARY TAPE

Posted on 2016-09-05

Having worked for much of the previous 12 months on a new Cut Copy album, we decided this January it was time to give ourselves a well earned break. But instead of retreating to the wilderness or decompressing on a beach somewhere, we spent ten days in the studio making a collection of ambient instrumental works. We wanted to share outtakes from these sessions with you in all their unedited glory, so we’ve put them out as an extremely limited edition cassette, available mainly through our web stores (though you may see a copy or two floating around in the wild).- Dan and Tim

44 minutes of music / limited edition release of 400 cassettes.

LUSTMORD – DARK MATTER

Posted on 2016-09-05

Dark ambient visionary Lustmord teams up with prolific UK experimental label Touch to present Dark Matter. Following 2013’s The Word as Power on Blackest Ever Black, the studio album was 15 years in the making and thus feels thoroughly well-conceived. It comprises of material the Welsh producer, real name Brian Williams, gathered from 1993 till 2003: NASA and various astronomy observatories across the US are amongst the sources of his audio library.
