LOUIS VUITTON MAISON LONDON

Posted on 2010-05-10

Today Louis Vuitton will be opening its new Maison London, a store concept which was previously reserved to its home town Paris. The massive store cost over 30 Million Pounds and is nothing short of impressive. You can of course expect an incredible selection of LV products in the new store. For us most impressive is the amount of original art that you will be able to witness at the new maison. The new store showcases art by Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Michael Landy and others. Depending on the artist, you will find paintings, sculptures and installations on showcase.

FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE

Posted on 2010-05-10

For All the World to See: Visual Culture and the Struggle for Civil Rights explores the historic role of visual culture in shaping, influencing, and transforming the fight for racial equality and justice in the United States from the late 1940s to the mid 1970s. This exhibition of 230 photographs, objects, and clips from television and film looks at the extent to which the rise of the modern civil rights movement paralleled the birth of television and the popularity of picture magazines and other forms of visual mass media.

Guest curator Maurice Berger examines the role that visual culture played in the civil rights movement in changing prevailing ideas about race in America.

Absolut Brooklyn, a collaboration with Absolute and Spike Lee. Lee adds his signature ‘Spiked’ baseball cap and glasses to Absolut founder Lars Olsson Smith’s signature seal on the bottle alongside the silk screened image of an illustrated Brooklyn Stoop, which is #165 as a nod to Spike Lee’s brownstone roots. As for the flavor, it’s Red Apple and Ginger, “its flavor evokes the spice and vibrancy Brooklyn brings to the big apple”

BRUNO CALS – HORIZONS

Posted on 2010-05-03

The photographs in the Horizons series by Brazilian
photographer Bruno Cals are suggestive of something beyond the record presented. The images of the buildings in São Paulo, Tokyo and Buenos
Aires explore the limits of two-dimensionality, and articulate a radically different perspective on a commonplace visual scenario. In expressing this fresh point of view, Cals has invoked contrasting themes of possibility versus impossibility, presence versus emptiness, and search versus satisfaction.

Exhibition runs through to July 31st, 2010
